IIT Madras, Bhubaneswar, Kharagpur, Guwahati may start BEd courses for 2023 24

:- The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) developed the plan to provide ITEP course in multidisciplinary institutions as envisioned in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020

 

Tamil Nadu: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati and IIT Bhubaneswar has submitted applications for Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) to start BEd admission for the academic session 2023-24, said Subhas Sarkar, minister of state in the education ministry. He was replying to a question in the Lok Sabha.

The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) developed the plan to provide ITEP course in multidisciplinary institutions as envisioned in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. "A consultative meet was held amongst the participating Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) and to share the Draft of Suggestive Curriculum Framework on ITEP (4-Yrs Integrated Teacher Education Programme) on 30th December 2020," the minister said in the reply. A meeting was also held among the vice-chancellor of several universities, education professionals, academicians, teachers and other stakeholders to formulate the approach for initial teacher preparation as per NEP 2020, Sarkar informed.

In October, 2021, NCTE notified the regulations for ITEP and invited applications from central and state government institutions and universities. IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati and IIT Bhubaneswar have submitted their applications for the same, Sarkar further said.
