Kanpur ; The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has introduced the Fellowship for Academic and Research Excellence (FARE), aimed at recognizing and supporting exceptional PhD students. This initiative seeks to promote high-quality research and encourage students to complete their doctoral studies within a specified timeline.

Eligibility Criteria and Application Details

The fellowship is open to full-time PhD students who submit their thesis within five years of enrollment in the program. Students submitting their thesis within five and a half years are also eligible, though the fellowship duration will be adjusted accordingly. Applicants must have at least one published or accepted research paper as the first author in a reputed journal or conference, directly related to their PhD work.

Financial Support and Research Opportunities

The FARE Fellowship is available to students from the Y18 batch onward. It offers financial support for up to 12 months, with a stipend equivalent to that of IIT Kanpur's Post-Doctoral Fellows, along with additional research-related grants. The fellowship allows for collaboration with other faculty members, although the current thesis supervisor will remain the student’s mentor during this period.
