IIT Jammu Confers 420 Degrees at 7th Convocation, Honours Academic Excellence With Gold and Silver Medals

Jammu: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu has celebrated awarding 420 degrees to the graduating batch of students in its 7 th Convocation. The award ceremony included the presentation of President's, Director's and Institute Gold Medals, and Institute Silver Medals to deserving candidates as a mark of academic excellence. The Convocation was attended by the IIT Jammu graduating batch, their parents, faculty members and invited guests.

IIT Jammu Awards 420 Degrees to Graduating Batch Across Four Programmes

The IIT Jammu statement said that the degrees awarded numbered 209 for B.Tech, 124 for M.Tech, 23 for M.Sc. and 64 for Ph.D. programme graduates.

The 7 th Convocation of IIT Jammu was held at the IIT Jammu campus with the institute's website noting it as an event in the institute's 2026 academic year.

Shankar M. Venugopal Urges Graduates to Leverage Opportunities and Stay Connected to IIT Jammu

Dr. Shankar M. Venugopal, Vice President of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Mahindra Research Valley, was the Chief Guest at the Convocation. Dr. Amitabh Ranjan, Vice Chairman, Pan IIT Alumni India was the Guest of Honour.

Venugopal urged the batch of 2026 to "leverage the plethora of opportunities that arise out of the tremendous innovation happening in this era" and "stay connected with IIT Jammu" as he believes they would "make a difference as mentors, collaborators and ambassadors." Ranjan similarly, encouraged the graduates to "stay connected with the IIT family" and "take away the values and experiences" from the college days.

IIT Jammu Director Calls for Curiosity and Lifelong Learning

Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu congratulated the batch of 2026 and called for nurturing curiosity, resilience and purpose to get ahead in life and build an impactful career. Gaur added that the institute wishes the graduates to continue learning, create value, and "use the knowledge, you earned, and your innovations to create impact on your life and society." He further added that graduates must stay connected with the institute and people that they studied with.

As for those moving from university to industry or research, the call for continuing education fits in with a changing environment that values not just technical knowledge but also soft skills. Vivek Kumar Shandilya Wins President Gold Medal for B.Tech Batch at IIT Jammu Convocation 2026.

Academic Excellence Was Highly Rewarded At The 7 Th Convocation Of IIT Jammu.

The President Gold Medal for topping the B.Tech batch went to Vivek Kumar Shandilya, Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering for his overall CGPA. Ayush Raj, Department of Chemical Engineering, received the Director's Gold Medal for the same.

IIT Jammu's medal winners page also noted the names of Ayush Raj among the Institute Silver Medal winners. Mohammad Shamsul Haq of M.Tech Civil Engineering and Sheikh Aabid Nisar of M.Sc. Chemistry received the Institute Gold Medal for obtaining the highest CGPA in their batches.

IIT Jammu also presented Institute Silver Medal for the highest CGPA, one for each discipline in the graduating batches. B.Tech Recipients Included:

• Nageshwar Kumar — Electrical Engineering
• Harshit Beri — Mechanical Engineering

'Antardṛṣṭi' Sculpture Unveiled for Class of 2026 at IIT Jammu Convocation

The Convocation concluded with the unveiling of a sculpture titled "Antardṛṣṭi" (inner vision) by the class of 2026. It signifies the move from one phase of life to the other and the confidence, courage and aspirations they need to face the future full of uncertainties at the threshold of their careers. So beyond medals and degrees, the Convocation served as the celebration of the graduates' journey as they step into the next phase of their life - be it as employee, entrepreneur, researcher or continue further education.
