September 23, 2026: The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur) has extended the registration deadline for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2027. Candidates can now submit their applications until October 19, 2026, instead of the earlier deadline of October 12.

The official JAM 2027 website confirms that IIT Kharagpur is the organising institute for the examination. The computer-based JAM 2027 examination will be conducted on February 14, 2027, while the result is scheduled to be announced on March 18, 2027.

IIT JAM 2027 Exam Date

IIT Kharagpur will conduct JAM 2027 on February 14, 2027 in computer-based mode.

The examination will be held in two sessions:

  • Forenoon session: Chemistry, Geology and Mathematics

  • Afternoon session: Biotechnology, Economics, Mathematical Statistics and Physics

Candidates opting for two test papers must select papers scheduled in different sessions.

IIT JAM 2027 Admission Opportunities

JAM scores are used for admission to postgraduate programmes at participating IITs and other institutes, subject to the eligibility and admission requirements of the respective programmes.

For the 2027 admission cycle, all 23 IITs are offering admission to 89 postgraduate programmes through JAM, according to reports on the revised registration schedule.

The programmes covered through JAM include programmes such as:

  • Integrated PhD

JAM 2027 Eligibility

Candidates who have completed their undergraduate degree or are appearing in the final examination of their qualifying degree in 2027 can appear for JAM 2027, subject to the applicable eligibility requirements.

Candidates should separately check the eligibility requirements of the postgraduate programme and institute to which they intend to seek admission.
