IIT JAM 2027 Registration Link Active; Apply for 3,000 PG Seats Across 23 IITs
Science graduates and final-year science/engineering/math undergrad students can utilise the opportunity offered by IIT JAM 2027 to apply for postgraduate study at Premier engineering and science institutes in the country. Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur) conducts the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2027. Candidates can apply at the official website jam.iitkgp.ac.in.
The registration window opened on 12th September 2026 (after a relaxation in the earlier scheduled dates) and will close on 12th October 2026. This year, the JAM score will make it possible for students to apply for around 3000 PG seats across 23 IITs.

IIT JAM 2027: Seven Test Papers
JAM 2027 will comprise seven test papers. These are:
- BT- Biotechnology
- CY- Chemistry
- EN- Economics
- GG- Geology
- MA– Mathematics
- MS- Mathematical Statistics
- PH- Physics
Candidates can appear for one or two test papers. If a candidate opts to appear for two tests, then both of the papers must be scheduled in different sessions.
The examination will be conducted in two sessions. Papers in Chemistry, Geology, and Mathematics will be conducted in the forenoon session, while the remaining papers of Biotechnology, Economics, Mathematical Statistics, and Physics will be conducted in the afternoon.
Who Can Apply for IIT JAM 2027?
Many candidates may be interested in applying for JAM 2027. The rules are fairly lenient. Candidates who have, or will have, completed the first part of their undergraduate degree can apply for JAM 2027. Intriguingly, at the time of writing, the official FAQ states that there is no minimum percentage requirement for being eligible to take JAM 2027. They write that candidates must separately satisfy the eligibility conditions of the PG program and institute to which they are applying. There is no upper age limit, and candidates can take JAM as many times as they want.

In fact, each program has it's own specific requirements, which candidates must meet by the due date. Candidates must check each program’s requirements carefully before applying.
IIT JAM 2027 Application Process
Candidates can apply at the JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS). The steps are:
- Browse to jam.iitkgp.ac.in.
- Register for JAM 2027.
- Input your personal and academic data.
- Select the desired test paper or eligible two-paper combination.
- Upload the appropriate documents.
- Once you have paid the application fee, submit the form and save your confirmation/application data.
According to the official FAQ, applicants need to check the status of their application on a regular basis. A printed copy of the application form does not need to be sent to IIT Kharagpur or any other JAM zonal institute.
IIT JAM 2027 Application Fees
The cost of an application to take one paper is INR 1,000 for female/SC/ST/PwD, and INR 2,000 for the rest. An application for two papers would be INR 1,350 for female/SC/ST/PwD candidates and INR 2,700 for the rest.
