IIT Indore Hosts EnRISE 2026 to Showcase Innovative Sustainable Engineering Solutions
Indore: Sustainability has now made its way from policy terminology to research focus. To this end, IIT Indore is hosting EnRISE 2026 (International Conference on Environmental Research and Innovation for Sustainable Engineering) on the 7th and 8th of August 2026 to assemble scientists, engineers, researchers, and policy and industry leaders to create the next possible environmental solution ideas.
Conducted by the Algal EcoTechnology & Sustainability (AETS) Group and the STWUTEE (Sustainable Waste Utilization to Enhance Economy) Lab at IIT Indore, the objective of the two-day international conference is to combine scientific research and innovative engineering solutions to answer some of the pressing environmental questions the world is facing.
Real-World Sustainability Solutions Derived from Research
EnRISE 2026 plans to be significantly different than most of your conventional academic conferences. They usually encompass fairly narrow ranges of topics, often confined to technical discussions. EnRISE 2026 welcomes and attempts to foster collaboration among members of the academic community, industry, and the various levels (regional, state, and central) of government.
The focus of the conference is on moving research related to sustainability from the lab into large-scale, real-world technologies and solutions of a policy nature. Attendees cover a diverse set of interests related to environmental science, engineering, and sustainability from academia, research, industry, and the government, and come from a variety of geographic regions from all over India and from many different countries.
Six Main Themes of EnRISE Conference
The EnRISE Conference's technical program encompasses six key themes in response to emerging needs across the global environment:
- River Health and Wetland Restoration
- Wastewater Treatment and Resource Recovery
- Solid Waste Management and Circular Economy
- Emerging Contaminants, Microplastics and PFAS
- Environmental Policy, Governance and Sustainability
- Sustainable Engineering, including AI, GIS, renewable energy, life-cycle assessment, and carbon footprint.
The themes reflect the conference's commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, which is integral to engineering.
Global Experts and Diverse Opinions
EnRISE 2026 has invited outstanding researchers and academics from different eminent global institutions to deliver keynotes.
Confirmed speakers hail from IITs Guwahati, Kharagpur, and Delhi; Dalhousie University (Canada), Leibniz University Hannover (Germany), Université Paris Cité (France), University of Leeds (UK), and University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) and will provide conference participants with insights on global research and new environmental technologies.
Publication Opportunities for Researchers
In the eyes of the organizers, one of the primary appeals of EnRISE 2026 is the opportunity to publish.
According to them, a select number of high-quality papers submitted to the conference will undergo a rigorous review and will be published in a special issue of Elsevier's Ecological Engineering or in edited volumes by Springer and Wiley. All submissions undergo a review and will utilize Microsoft's Conference Management Toolkit (CMT) to provide a transparent and quality-enhancing peer review.
Final Thoughts
IIT Indore aims to build its reputation for sustainability research and engineering with its EnRISE 2026 conference. It attracts the stakeholders needed to transform research into solutions. It gathers academics, professionals, and policymakers. There are many potential solutions for the issues presented. Research can continue and might forge partnerships. The world is looking to be more climate-resilient. It considers the efficient use of its resources in the process. EnRISE 2026 will advocate for more sustainability.
