IIT Goa Announces Special Recruitment Drive for Assistant Professors

IIT Goa has announced a Special Recruitment Drive for Assistant Professors (Grade I & II), specifically targeting candidates from SC, ST, OBC-NCL, and EWS categories. The recruitment covers a wide range of schools, including Engineering, Sciences, Humanities, and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences, as well as specialized thrust areas like Marine Science and Space Technology.

Farmagudi, Ponda, Goa, The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Goa has officially launched a Special Recruitment Drive specifically for Indian nationals belonging to reserved categories, including SC, ST, OBC-NCL, and EWS. This initiative aims to strengthen the institute's faculty across various schools and thrust areas, inviting applicants with excellent academic backgrounds and a proven commitment to high-quality teaching and outstanding research. The application window will close at 05:00 PM on March 31, 2026.

The recruitment covers a broad spectrum of disciplines. Positions are available in the Schools of Mechanical Sciences, Mathematics and Computer Science, Electrical Sciences, and Chemical and Materials Sciences. Furthermore, the drive extends to the Schools of Humanities and Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences. The institute is also focusing on specialized thrust areas, including Marine Science and Technology, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Space Science, and Sustainability and Climate Change. Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant discipline and have a first-class record in their prior degree.

Candidates may be appointed as Assistant Professor Grade I if they have at least 3 years of post-PhD experience. Those with less experience may be considered for Assistant Professor Grade II on a contractual basis, with the potential to be elevated to Grade I in the future. The financial package is highly competitive, with a minimum basic pay of ₹1,01,500 for Grade I and starting at ₹84,700 for Grade II, depending on experience. Beyond the basic pay, the institute offers comprehensive benefits including HRA, medical reimbursement, transport allowances, and a Cumulative Professional Development Allowance (CPDA) of ₹3 Lakhs every three years to support research and conference travel.

The application process is entirely online through the institute's recruitment portal. Prospective faculty must submit a detailed Curriculum Vitae, a Research Statement, and a Teaching Statement outlining the courses they are prepared to develop. While the preferred age for applicants is below 35 years, age relaxations are applicable as per the Government of India rules for reserved categories. IIT Goa also provides relocation expenses up to ₹1.25 Lakh for those moving from abroad and up to ₹75,000 for domestic relocations.
