AI is already disrupting and transforming several industries, including but not limited to healthcare, life sciences, and drug discovery. With our complementary skills in research and the development of skills and innovation, this collaboration aims to provide the Indian ecosystem for AI with the solutions and tools that are indispensable and necessary.
According to Prof. Vimal Mishra, Dean, Research & Development, IIT Gandhinagar
This collaboration combines complementary skills and research strengths to provide AI innovations and technologies to support the national agenda, and to foster the growth and development of AI and its research. It combines complementary skills and research infrastructure to provide the foundations for impactful research, innovative AI education, and technologies to support the national agenda.
According to Dr. Amit Sheth, Founding Director and CEO, Indian AI Research Organisation (IAIRO):
World-class AI research combined with innovation and real-world applications will drive India's national agenda on AI. The partnership with IIT Gandhinagar is aligned with this goal to build a world-class platform integrating the highest levels of academic research on AI with its application and the engagement of industry to practice AI. Within the framework of the ecosystem we are establishing for AI in Gujarat, this partnership will focus on fostering world-class research on AI and its applications, and on nurturing talent and placing India on the global AI research and innovation landscape.
Describing the operational framework of this collaboration, Prof. Sanjay Chaudhary, Collaborations & Operations Lead, IAIRO, said the following:
"This MoU marks the first time our organizations have built a formal framework to enable us to collaborate further. Embedded in the framework is the opportunity to learn and innovate through collaboration and exchange of faculty for specialized AI programs, exchange of students, collaborative research, and shared research infrastructure. We are excited by the work ahead of us and what will emerge out of this collaboration for the benefit of researchers, students, industry, and the AI community at large."
