Karnataka .: A team from the Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad (IIT Dharwad) secured the runner-up position in the Rising Engineering Competition at the Seismic Academy 5th Annual Conference 2026.
The conference, themed “Seismic Strengthening: From Shake to Safe,” was held on October 23, 2026, at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.
IIT Dharwad Team Presents Research on 3D-Printed Concrete
The team comprised Ms. Gayathri R Hitnalli, Ms. Shreeya Alok and Ms. Anitha Nayak, under the guidance of Dr. Ramesh Nayaka.
They presented their research titled “From Rheology and Toolpath Design to Seismic Performance in 3D Printed Concrete Structures.”
The research connects 3D printing techniques with the seismic performance of concrete structures, bringing together areas of engineering research related to material behaviour, construction processes and structural performance.
IIT Dharwad Team Recognised in Rising Engineering Competition
The team received the runner-up position in the Rising Engineering Competition conducted as part of the conference.
The achievement provides an example of IIT Dharwad students presenting research at an engineering conference and competing in a specialised technical forum focused on seismic strengthening.
The research topic also highlights emerging applications of 3D printing in construction and how engineering research can examine the performance of newer construction technologies in areas such as seismic safety.
