IIT Delhi NFLP 2026: 5-Day Residential Leadership Programme Invites Faculty Nominations

New Delhi : Leadership training for faculty goes beyond lectures and management theories at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi through the 2026 edition of its Nurturing Future Leadership Program (NFLP). Sponsored by the Ministry of Education, the Government of India, the course has a 'everyone a leader' philosophy with an approximate 30-hour 5-day residential format at the Hauz Khas Campus, New Delhi.

As a Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme initiative, university-level faculty are invited under the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC), which describes the NFLP as a five-day, approximately 30-hour residential programme aimed at building up faculty leadership capabilities.

IIT Delhi NFLP 2026: When and Where?

Fourth edition dates are October 26–30, 2026 and venue is IIT Delhi, Hauz Khas Campus, New Delhi. Participants may occupy single-occupancy accommodation with meals from the evening of October 25 until the morning of October 31, per the invitation.

Who Can Apply for IIT Delhi NFLP 2026?

Eligible participants include full-time IIT Delhi faculty members. The invitation specifically asks for nominations from:

  • IITs
  • IIMs
  • IISERs
  • Other Centrally Funded Institutes
  • Central Universities
  • State Universities
  • Private Universities

Institutions are to nominate faculty members for the course through their Directors, Vice-Chancellors or Principals. Per UGC's guidelines on NFLP, regular/permanent faculty nominated by institutional heads are eligible for participation. Diversity across institution types and gender representation is highlighted.

How Many Faculty Members Can Each Institute Nominate?

Each participating institute is requested to forward two nominations, preferably one male and one female. The gender representation is consistent with the NFLP framework's promotion of diverse participation. More than 100 participants have attended past editions of NFLP, as per the invitation.

What Makes NFLP Different From a Regular Faculty Training Programme?

The course is focussed on developing leadership skills rather than a typical subject-specific faculty development course.Host institutions have the flexibility to design their curriculum and pedagogical approach, per UGC's guidelines, but the programme is aimed at developing core leadership capabilities and encouraging participants to carry their learning back to their respective institutions.

That latter point is key, as the programme is not only focussed on training an individual faculty member, but has a wider aim of creating a multiplier effect within higher education institutions.

IIT Delhi NFLP 2026: Travel and Accommodation Rules

While accommodation and meals are available during the specified residential period, travel arrangements and costs to and from the participant's host institution are to be managed by the participant's institute. The course is sponsored under the Ministry of Education framework. Similar information from the participating institutions confirms that the programme is residential, but the participants or their institutions take responsibility for travel.

How to Register for IIT Delhi NFLP 2026?

Interested faculty members should coordinate with their respective institutions for nomination and then complete registration through the UGC Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme portal.

Official registration portal: Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme Registration

The UGC portal currently provides participant registration fields for the MMC/NFLP programme.

Why IIT Delhi NFLP 2026 Matters

Higher education leadership is increasingly extending beyond administration. Faculty members impact research culture, teaching practices, student engagement and institutional decision-making. By bringing faculty from different types of institutions together in a residential learning environment, the NFLP can create opportunities for peer exchange.

For students, that, too, matters, with stronger academic leadership potentially contributing to more collaborative, inclusive and student-centred learning environments. The fourth edition at IIT Delhi therefore offers faculty members not only five days away from routine academic work but also a larger aim to return with ideas that can influence their institutions long after the programme ends.
