IIT Delhi and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Sign MoU to Boost STEM Education and Teacher Training
IIT Delhi and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Partner to Advance STEM Education and Teacher Training
New Delhi: In a major initiative to promote innovation and scientific learning at the school level, the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) and the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) have entered into a formal partnership to enhance STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and strengthen teacher development.
The two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on October 24, marking the first-ever collaboration between any IIT and KVS for structured STEM outreach. The partnership aims to nurture scientific curiosity among students and equip teachers with cutting-edge pedagogical tools and strategies.
Promoting Innovation and Curiosity in Classrooms
According to IIT Delhi, the collaboration will focus on students from Classes 9 to 12, introducing them to experiential learning opportunities and modern scientific concepts. The initiative builds upon existing engagements between KVS and IIT Delhi, such as the SciTech Spins (STS) Lecture Series — a flagship outreach programme run by IIT Delhi’s Office of Academic Outreach and New Initiatives.
The STS series, now in its eighth edition, has already attracted widespread participation from Kendriya Vidyalaya students across Delhi-NCR. In 2025 alone, over 3,000 students attended interactive sessions that translated complex scientific principles into engaging real-world applications.
Hands-on Learning and Practical Exposure
Under the new MoU, KVS students will continue to visit IIT Delhi for hands-on workshops, exhibitions, and STEM-focused events. These activities are designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world innovation, inspiring students to pursue careers in science, engineering, and technology.
Empowering Teachers with Modern Pedagogies
The collaboration extends beyond student learning to include teacher training and capacity building. IIT Delhi faculty and research scholars will conduct specialised workshops for Kendriya Vidyalaya teachers, focusing on:
- Emerging technologies and classroom integration
- Innovative teaching methodologies
- Practical demonstrations and interactive experiments
This initiative aims to empower educators with the confidence and resources to make STEM learning more inquiry-driven, engaging, and conceptually strong.
Ensuring Long-Term Impact
To maintain the programme’s effectiveness, IIT Delhi will introduce a structured feedback and evaluation system. Feedback from participating teachers and students will help refine future training modules, ensuring the programme remains impactful and aligned with evolving educational needs.
A Step Towards Future-Ready Learning
Through this partnership, IIT Delhi continues its mission to nurture scientific thinking from an early age, while KVS strengthens its commitment to holistic and future-oriented education. Together, they aim to inspire a generation of young innovators and equip teachers to lead India’s next wave of STEM excellence.
