IIT BHU Recruitment 2026: 55 Non-teaching Vacancies Announced

Varanasi : Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, has opened positions in its Administrative, Technical, Library, Engineering and Rajbhasha cadres with an advertisement dated 24th August, 2026. The jobs are posted as Advertisement No. 03/2026-27.

These positions are advertised as Junior Technician, Junior Superintendent, Assistant Engineer and Junior Translation Officer. About 55 positions are available and online applications can be submitted to the SAMARTH portal between 25th and 24th September, 2026, 5 pm. Engineering, science, computer science, administration and library science and even Hindi translation degree holders may apply for these posts.

IIT BHU Junior Superintendent Eligibility and Junior Technician Recruitment

With 21 vacancies, Junior Superintendent is the highest-ranked position. For this position, candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree with 55% marks alongside 3 years of experience in service at level 5 or equivalent or 8 years of experience in service at level 3 or above in any specified government, autonomous, PSU or research organisations. Experience in office procedures at the computer level such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint is essential.

Junior Technician Recruitment

The institute has divided the Junior Technician recruitment into five groups. Group I includes Chemistry and Physics and requires a Bachelor's degree with Chemistry/Physics as one subject and 55% marks. For Group II, candidates must possess a relevant Engineering degree with 55% marks or a 3-year diploma with 55% marks and one year of relevant work experience. Group- III includes Electrical and Electronics, whereas Group- IV includes Civil, Mining and Architecture/Planning & Design. Group- V includes Computer Science/IT&CCIS. Generally, posts of Engineering Technician require 55% marks and diploma holders should have one year of relevant experience.

Library and Engineering Posts

For Junior Library Assistant, candidates are required to have a Bachelor's degree with 55% marks in Library and Information Science, or a combination of diploma/degree mentioned in the notification with the experience required. One year of work experience in reputed libraries is preferable.

The vacancies for Assistant Engineer are two, and candidates with a Bachelor's degree/diploma in Civil/ Electrical Engineering with the required post qualification experience. For Junior Engineer, candidates need a B.E./B. Tech in Civil with at least 55% marks and two years of relevant experience, or a three-year Civil Engineering diploma with 55% marks and three years of relevant experience.

Junior Translation Officer Vacancy Junior Translation Officer Vacancy

IIT BHU has invited applications to fill the position of Junior Translation Officer. To be eligible, the candidate must have a degree in Hindi and three years of translation experience in an eligible organisation (s) in converting English to Hindi and vice versa, in technical and non-technical formats. Knowledge of Hindi application software, translation experience in scientific or technical fields, and a translated Diploma/Certificate in translation are preferred.

Application and Selection Procedure

The application fee for candidates, other than SC/ST, PwBD, and all female candidates, for Group B posts is Rs. 500 and for Group C posts is Rs. 250. Payments can be made through Internet Banking, a debit card, a credit card or UPI.

The institute will choose among the candidates the most suitable for the post through different methods, such as written tests, screening tests, presentations, group discussions, or interviews. The dates of these will be communicated to the candidates through email. No hard copy call letter will be sent.

The candidates are required to apply online on IIT BHU SAMARTH. The online application will be available from August 25 to September 24, 2026, at 5 PM. The hard copy of the duly filled application, complete in all respects, is to be sent by Speed Post to the Registrar, IIT BHU, Varanasi -221005, along with the supporting documents in a sealed envelope.

Candidates serving in government, semi-government organisations, autonomous bodies or educational institutions are required to enclose the necessary NOC and vigilance clearance along with their application.
