Bhilai : Electric Mobility continues to grow beyond vehicles, and batteries are becoming as critical as vehicles themselves. As electric mobility grows, the need for smart energy management systems, battery charging and power conversion will increase. Focusing on next-generation batteries and charging systems, Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai (IIT Bhilai) has announced two Research jobs, under ANRF funding.

Applications are invited for the project entitled “Design and Development of Multi-Input Converter Based Dynamically Reconfigurable Battery Pack with Smart Charging for Micro Urban Electric Mobility,” for one Research Associate-III and one Junior Research Fellow at IIT Bhilai. The project is led by Dr Lalit Kumar Sahu, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Bhilai, and Dr Hemachander Allamsetty, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering at NIT Puducherry, will be the Principal Co-Investigator.

Persons selected for the JRF position should have a Post Graduate Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering. Both positions will be filled immediately with an initial appointment of one year. Funds permitting, extensions will be based on performance.

Who can apply for IIT Bhilai JRF Post?

According to the notification, Applicants must possess a graduate or postgraduate degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics and Electrical Engineering and must have been selected via the national-level major selection procedure/exam to apply for the JRF position.

IIT Bhilai RA-III Eligibility

Skills Preferred for the Research Project

The RA-III position is also about project management and will require the candidate to have a higher level of management skills and may have worked in the electric vehicle sector, battery technologies of electric vehicles including battery management systems, power electronics, drives, machine learning and predictive or data analytics along with MATLAB and/or Simulink.

The RA-III will also be expected to independently perform all types of administrative and operational work, coordinate with the team and stakeholders, prepare technical reports and presentations, and work under tight deadlines and meet all the project requirements.

Salary, HRA and Tenure

The monthly amount for fellowships is Rs.37,000 for JRF and Rs.67,000 for RA-III. It is noted that provision for hostel may be possible on a first come first serve basis. Hostel residents will not be eligible to claim HRA. It may be considered to allow HRA as per the rules of the Central Government, the Institute and the funding agency and the project funding available. The first appointment will be for one year, which may be extended depending on performance and availability of the project grant. The total project period will be three years.
