IIM Lucknow to Host 40th Convocation on March 19

Sanjiv Bajaj to deliver convocation address; degrees to be conferred by Board Chairperson Event to honour academic excellence across multiple management programmes

Lucknow: The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow is set to hold its 40th Convocation Ceremony on March 19, 2026. The event marks a significant milestone in the institute’s academic journey, celebrating the achievements of graduating students across its flagship programmes.

The ceremony will be graced by Sanjiv Bajaj, Chairman and Managing Director of Bajaj Finserv Limited, who will deliver the convocation address. Degrees will be formally conferred by N. Chandrasekaran, Chairperson of the Board of Governors, while the Director of the institute, Prof. M.P. Gupta, will present the annual report highlighting institutional progress.

The convocation will recognise outstanding students from programmes including the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP), Post Graduate Programme in Sustainable Management (PGPSM), International Programme in Management for Executives (IPMX), and the Post Graduate Programme in Management for Working Executives (PGPWE). Medal winners across these programmes will be honoured for their academic performance.

A key highlight of this year’s ceremony is the revival of the Reshma Sareen Excellence Award for Best Girl Student, originally instituted in 1997. The award includes a cash prize of ₹1,00,000 and will now be presented annually during the convocation, recognising exceptional academic achievement among female students. The institute has also made arrangements for the convocation to be live-streamed, enabling students, families, and alumni to witness the event remotely. This step reflects the institute’s effort to make milestone academic events more accessible to a wider audience.
