Kolkata: Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, celebrated its 62nd Foundation Day celebrations by hosting the Foundation Day Lecture and the Distinguished Alumnus Award ceremony at the campus auditorium today.
The event began with a welcome address by IIM Calcutta Director, Professor Uttam Kumar Sarkar. He said, “It’s a proud moment for IIM Calcutta, the country’s first IIM, to celebrate its 62nd Foundation Day. I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all stakeholders over these years who helped us become what we are today.”
The Distinguished Alumnus award was introduced by Professor Manish Thakur, Dean (New Initiatives & External Relations). The award, which is in its twelfth year, was instituted during the Golden Jubilee celebrations in 2011 to recognise and felicitate alumni. Prof. Thakur congratulated all the recipients of the Award for their exceptional achievements. He added that their remarkable contributions in their chosen fields are a matter of great pride for them and their alma mater.
The award ceremony was followed by an address by Shri Shrikrishna Kulkarni, Chairperson, Board of Governors, IIM Calcutta. He said, “The need for incorporating Human values in management is being felt by humanity today – more than ever before! IIM Calcutta can be a global leader in filling this gap”.
The 62nd Foundation Day Lecture was delivered by Shri Shyam Srinivasan, Managing Director & CFO, Federal Bank, and a distinguished alumnus of IIM Calcutta. He spoke on, It’s all about Horsepower, and not tailwinds.
The event concluded with a ‘Vote of Thanks’ by Professor Bhaskar Chakrabarti, Dean (Academic), IIM Calcutta.
