IIM Calcutta celebrates 58th Annual Convocation 2023

Kolkata, India,  : Indian Institute of Management Calcutta conducted todayit’s58th Annual Convocation 2023 on a traditional mode – offline. The flagship event was graced by Mr. TarunRai, Executive Director, APAC, Wunderman Thomson as the Chief Guest. He delivered the 58th Convocation Address. The Board of Governors Chairperson, Shri Shrikrishna Kulkarni, and the Director of IIM Calcutta, Professor Uttam K Sarkar also graced the occasion.

461 students of the 58th batch of the 2-year flagship MBA programme were awarded their degrees, 78 students were awarded for the 1-Year MBAEx Programme. The award of diplomas was announced for 40 students in Post Graduate Programme for Executives for Visionary Leadership in Manufacturing (PGPEX VLM). The Institute also conferred 10 students with their PhD degrees.

The grand ceremony began with the introduction of the Chief Guest and the presentation of Annual Report by Professor Uttam Kumar Sarkar, Director, IIM Calcutta. Director, Professor Uttam Kumar Sarkar said, "I congratulate our bright graduating students on their success and wish them good life and career ahead as these brand ambassadors of IIM Calcutta shine and strive to make the world a better place to live in."

This was followed by the address of the Chairperson, Board of Governors Shri Shrikrishna Kulkarni. The Convocation Address was delivered by the chief guest, Mr TarunRai.

 

For achieving academic excellence, the following students were honoured with medals and awards: 

Doctoral Studies:

  • The Institute conferred 10 students with their PhD degrees
  • SambitBrataRathwon the prestigious Satish K. Sehgal Doctoral Student Award 2023.
  • Saikat Das&SambitBrataRathwon the Best Publication Doctoral Student Award 2023
  • SambitBrataRathwon the Nirmal Chandra Memorial Doctoral Student Award 2023

2-year MBA Degree Programme:

  • 461 students of the 58th batch of the 2-year flagship MBA programme were awarded their degrees
  • Rank Holders: DevDagaawarded Dr. B C Roy Gold Medal for 1stRank holder, P C Chandra Silver Medal, Chairman’s Prize, John Wynne Prize, Calcutta Management Association Trophy, and IIMC Alumni Association, Calcutta Chapter Prize. Hisname will be instated in the Institute’s Honour Roll. AyushKhandelwal won Aditya Kashyap Memorial Scholarship for receiving the highest CGPA in Compulsory & Elective courses. He also won Late SumantraGhoshal Award for Academic Excellence for receiving the highest CGPA at the end of the 2-yr programme including all six terms and the Bank of Baroda Achievers Award for exemplary performance in the field of Academics. VrajeshJaidevIyengar won B S Dua Memorial Prize for Organizational Ability.DuppalaSreeHarsha won SrinathDamaria Award for Outstanding Leadership Ability.

 

1-year MBAEx Programme:

 

  • 78 students were awarded for the 1-Year MBAEx Programme
  • 8 students have been featured in the Director’s Merit List
  • Rank Holders: VilluriBhargav won Gold Medal sponsored by the Calcutta Chapter of the IIMC Alumni Association, presented in memory of Shri MRINMOY ROY, PGP 4th batch, for his outstanding contributions in fostering strong alumni engagement during his tenure as the Chairman of IIM Calcutta Alumni Association. He also won Institute Book Prize.Shristhi won Silver Medal sponsored by the IIMC PGPEX First Batch Alumni and Institute Book Prizebeing the 2nd Rank holder. SrijitaNeogywon Silver Medal sponsored by the IIMC PGPEX Fourth Batch Alumni and Institute Book Prize being the 3rd Rank holder.

 

1-year PGPEX – VLM:

 

  • 40 students were awarded with Diploma for the 1-Year PGPEX VLM Programme.
  • 4 students have been featured in the Director’s Merit List
  • Rank Holders:NishantSudhakarKatkar won PGPEX-VLM Gold Medal for First Rank Holder. Nitish Saini won PGPEX-VLM Gold Medal for Second Rank Holder andShivankur Mittalwon IIMC Alumni Association Calcutta Chapter Gold Medal for Third Rank Holder

The 58th convocation ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks and the singing of the national anthem.
