IIM Ahmedabad Hosts Global Conference on Organ Donation ‘Amplifying Voices’

Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad hosts a two-day international conference on organ donation, bringing global experts together to promote awareness and action.

Ahmedabad: Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, through its Centre for Management of Health Services (CMHS), in collaboration with the MOHAN Foundation, is hosting a two-day international conference on organ donation titled “Amplifying Voices” on April 3 and 4, 2026.

The conference brings together healthcare professionals, policymakers, researchers, NGOs, students, and community leaders from India and across the globe to discuss innovative strategies for promoting organ donation and transplantation. The initiative is supported by Tata Trusts and the Commonwealth Tribute to Life programme.

The event was inaugurated by Prof. Satish Deodhar, Dean (Faculty), IIMA, along with Dr. Sunil Shroff, Managing Trustee of MOHAN Foundation, and professors Rajesh Chandwani and Viswanath Pingali, Co-Chairpersons of CMHS.

In his address, Prof. Deodhar highlighted the importance of organ donation as a meaningful act that can save lives even after death, while Dr. Shroff emphasized that organ donation is not just a medical procedure but a social movement requiring awareness, empathy, and collective action.

The conference features a mix of workshops, panel discussions, keynote sessions, and experiential activities. Sessions focus on the use of artificial intelligence, social media tools, and digital platforms to enhance awareness, along with discussions on behavioural change, communication strategies, and community engagement.

International perspectives from countries such as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Malaysia are also being shared, offering insights into global organ donation practices and challenges.

A key highlight of the event includes the screening of the award-winning documentary “God, Vultures and Human”, which sheds light on the role of organ transplant coordinators in India.

The second day of the conference focuses on actionable outcomes, including youth-led initiatives, volunteer engagement, and community-driven models to strengthen the organ donation movement. Interactive experiences such as “An Hour in the Dark” are also part of the programme to build empathy and awareness.

With its multidisciplinary and global approach, the conference aims to create sustainable models and accelerate awareness and participation in organ donation across India and beyond.
