IIITM Gwalior Recruitment 2026 – Application Invitation for JRF/Project Associate
What do you envision happening when driverless vehicles have to make decisions at intersections where all the vehicles are following their own assigned goals? Research scholars at IIITM Gwalior are using meta-learning and AI to solve this conundrum, along with the nuances of cooperative behaviour.
The institute is currently advertising one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) or Project Associate - I position in a DST-funded project. Selection for the JRF position will take precedence during the selection process. If no eligible candidate is available for the JRF position, then the selection process for Project Associate - I will be conducted accordingly. The recruiting advertisement was published on the 12th of August 2026, and applicants will have until the 4th of September 2026 to apply.

What Is the IIITM Gwalior Research Project?
This project is titled "DST-NSF Turning 'Tragedy of the Commons ToC' into 'Emergent Cooperative Behaviour ECB' for Automated Vehicles at Intersections with Meta-Learning. The research studies the Automated-vehicle 'Tragedy of the Commons' (ToC) and the 'Emergent Cooperative Behaviour' (ECB) of human-driven vehicles at both structured US intersections and unstructured Indian intersections.
The focus of the study is building a meta-learning-based automated vehicle control mechanism in a decentralised automation environment. The objective is to enhance traffic for all vehicles and intersections. The proposed control mechanism will be validated in Computer and physics-based experiments. This project is undertaken in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin–Madison, IIT Jammu, and IIIT Allahabad. The candidate will be required to take an active part in discussions with the project partners.
