The selected candidates will be appointed for a time-bound period of 11 months, with renewal of the appointment based on the performance of the candidate and the policy of the institute. The consolidated pay will be Rs 60,000.
What Duties Will the IIMT Nagpur Student Counsellor Have?
Beyond counselling individual students. Counsellors will provide counselling services to students within the age 18 to 28 bracket and, if needed, to adults over 28. Counsellors will design and run counselling activities and collaborate with relevant professional volunteer groups and hospitals for student care duties. Students can approach counsellors for emotional, relational or other types of counselling services. A counsellor needs to uphold client confidentiality. Additional cases need to be reported to the authority in charge.

- Route 1: A degree at B.A. or B.Sc. level in Psychology and a diploma in counselling and at least 3 years of experience in student counselling at educational institutions.
- Route 2: A degree at M.A. or M.Sc. level in Psychology and at least 2 years of experience in student counselling at educational institutions.
- Route 3: An MBBS degree, a master’s degree or diploma in Psychiatric Medicine and, at least, 1 year of experience in student counselling at educational institutions.
Work experience at an educational institution of national importance (e.g. an IIT, NIT, or IIIT) will be positively regarded. Candidates must have the ability to work independently, and must have good communication and interpersonal skills, and must be computer literate..
Working Hours and Other Responsibilities
The Counsellor shall be required to visit the Institute from Monday to Saturday between 9:30 AM to 6 PM as per the instructions of the competent authority. The position also entails being on-call for emergencies outside regular working hours or during holidays.
During the government’s lockdown or a curfew, the Counsellor shall be required to offer therapy or counseling online to students and employees. The Counsellor shall also be required to maintain records on the mental health status of employees and students.
