Prayagraj:The Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad (IIIT Allahabad) has begun accepting applications for admission to its new NEP-based PhD programs through a continuous public announcement for the 2026 school year.

The announcement indicates that applicants to both PhD categories (PhD (with Institute/External Fellowship) and PhD (Working Professional)) will be able to apply online once they review their detailed eligibility requirements provided in the documentation.

The admission process will consist of two phases. Phase One will consist of a computer-based screening exam, lasting 2 hours, comprised of a general aptitude portion and content based on the candidate’s particular field. However, applicants who have earned a national-level qualifying exam (GATE, NET, etc.) will not have to take the screening exam. Working professionals will also not have to take the screening exam, as they will move on to Phase Two, a personal interview conducted by 3 experts in that area.

Phase Two will consist of one individual’s face-to-face interview by an agency designated as a third-party evaluator. The final decision will be made based on the recommendations from the third-party evaluator and approval from the approving authority.

The application fee is ₹500 for General/EWS/OBC candidates and ₹250 for SC/ST/PwD categories. The institute has announced three cut-off dates for submission — March 31, July 15, and November 30, 2026.
