IIIT Agartala Recruitment 2026: 10 Assistant Professor Vacancies Announced
With a PhD in Computer Science, you can take many avenues in your career; however, not a lot of recruitment notices communicate their request so explicitly. The Indian Institute of Information Technology Agartala (IIIT Agartala) has announced the recruitment of 10 Assistant Professor Grade-II positions in the Computer Science and Engineering department through direct recruitment on a contractual basis.
The recruitment notification (Advertisement) No. IIITA/Recruitment/2026/02 was released on 12 August 2026. The online application system will be available from 14 August 2026 to 10 September 2026, 11:55 pm.

According to the notification, the candidate will be entitled to the basic pay prescribed in the 7th CPC Pay Matrix, HRA, DA, Transport Allowance, NE Allowance at 10% of pay, and the Government of India’s National Pension System (NPS) employer contribution.
IIIT Agartala Assistant Professor Eligibility 2026
PhD in Computer Science and related fields with a first class in each and every degree is required. All specialisations in Computer Science and Engineering can apply. This allows for much greater freedom than when applicants have to adhere to a few specified research specialisations.
Period of Appointment and Benefits
This is a temporary appointment for three years, extendable by two years. The appointment will be at the level of Assistant Professor Grade – II. The normal service benefits applicable to regular employees will be provided. The number of positions is provisional. IIIT Agartala can decide to accept a larger or smaller number of applications, or it can decide to make no appointments at all.
Selection Procedure
It may include a written test, technical presentation and interview. The Selection Committee can determine the criteria based on the number of applicants. Candidates are required to be present for the technical presentation and interview.
Candidates staying outside of India can be permitted to attend the technical presentation and interview through video conferencing. The Institute will not be responsible for any failure to connect due to power outages, breakdowns, communication failures, etc. In case of a PhD, it does not guarantee an interview. The number of candidates to be invited so far for an interview will be decided based on their qualifications, specialisation, and academic performance.
IIIT Agartala Recruitment 2026 Application Fee
Application fee varies for different categories.
- Rs. 2,000 – General, OTH
- Rs. 1,000 – SC/ST
- No fee – PwD
Application fee must be paid online through the application portal. The fee is non-refundable.
How to Apply for IIIT Agartala Recruitment 2026
Please apply online through the recruitment portal. After submitting the online application, candidates are required to send a signed hard copy along with self-attested certificates and supporting documents by speed post/courier to OSD, IIIT Agartala, NIT Campus, Jirania, Agartala, Tripura (West)-799046. The application must be submitted online by 11:55 PM on 10 September, 2026 and the hard copy must reach the institute on or before 18 September, 2026.
Documents Required
The following self-attested copies must be submitted to the Institute: 10th and 12th certificates, mark sheets and degree of graduation and master's degree, PhD award/provisional award/submission certificate, wherever applicable. Also, a self-attested category certificate and current – year EWS/OBC-NCL certificate must be submitted, if applicable.
