IGNOU to train 10K Teachers on the New Education Policy 2020

New Delhi : The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) celebrated the 76th Independence Day on its campus in Maidan Garhi, Delhi. The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Nageshwar Rao hoisted the national flag and greeted the IGNOU students and everyone at IGNOU Headquarters and Regional Centers on the occasion of 76th Independence Day.

Prof. Nageshwar Rao, VC in his address at the occasion said that IGNOU is committed to providing quality education at an affordable cost to millions of aspiring learners in diverse disciplines offered by the university. He said that the university is working relentlessly to achieve the national goals through the launch of new programmes/courses in regional languages as envisaged in the New Education Policy to realize the goal of a 50% Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) by 2035. He informed as many as 40 Online Programmes have been launched by the University last year.

Commending the role of the University in advancing the NEP 2020 goals, he shared that the University has been entrusted with the task of training 10,000 teachers on the new policy by the government. He also shared that a course on "Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat" has been introduced by IGNOU which has gotten a good response from the learners and 4,000 students have already opted for the course.

On the occasion of the 76th Independence Day at the IGNOU Campus, patriotic tunes were played by the Army Band to give vent to patriotic fervour, and a Dog Show by the Army-trained Dogs was also performed. 

An exhibition was also organized on the occasion of Independence Day as part of the Celebrations at IGNOU VC Office. As part of the 76th Independence Day Celebrations at IGNOU, a number of activities in the run-up to the Independence Day were organized including Tiranga Yatra at the IGNOU HQ, distribution of Assistive Devices to the students with disability, and Booster Dose Vaccination camp, etc.,
