IGNOU celebrates 73rd Republic Day

. The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Nageshwar Rao hoisted the national flag at the VCO premises

New Delhi. : The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) celebrated the 73rd Republic Day in its campus in Maidan Garhi, Delhi. The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Nageshwar Rao hoisted the national flag at the VCO premises. Prof. Nageshwar Rao congratulated the IGNOU students and everyone at IGNOU Headquarter and Regional Centers on the occasion.


Talking about the better infrastructure at the Regional Centers he said that he is happy to share that Construction work of Regional Centre buildings at 10 RCs has been initiated by CPWD. On the reach of the University across the globe, Prof. Rao apprised the gathering that the International operations have been strengthened leading to opening/recognition of several Centres across several countries.

In his address Prof. Rao mentioned that the Memorandum of Agreement with Guyana Online Academy of Learning(GOAL) which will enable the university to offer ODL and Online Programmes through GOAL to the students of the Republic of Guyana, this further strengthens our International presence. On University's efforts to train & skill the Young population of the country, he made a mention of the recently inked MoU with MSDE (Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Government Of India) for integrating vocational education and training to higher education for the trainees attached to National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs), ITIs, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKK) and Jan Shikshan Sansthan.

He also expressed his happiness over the University securing 1st rank in the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievement (ARIIA) 2021 from MOE, Govt. of India. He also spoke about the University’s Alumni network which is being developed through the portal to interact with its Alumni. He also expressed his satisfaction over Substantial increase in the number of ODL programmes and courses launched. He also touched upon the online push of the university in his Republic Day address and stated that the viewership and downloading of IGNOU’s digital course material has also increased manifold.

The Republic Day was also celebrated across the 56 Regional Centers of the university.
