HTET 2026 Postponed for the Third Time. See 2.45 Lakh Candidates Waiting Again
Chandigarh ; The Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET 2026) has once again been postponed, this time removing the June 13 and 14 exam dates, which the Board of School Education, Haryana, announced with only four days' notice on May 26, 2026. The examination, previously scheduled for June 13 and 14, 2026, will not be held on those dates, leaving almost 2.45 lakh candidates awaiting a new examination schedule.
This is the third time in one recruitment cycle that the exam has been postponed. The exam was initially scheduled to take place on January 17 and 18, 2026. The Board of School Education, Haryana (BSEH), HTET Notification 2026, was first published on December 24, 2025. Haryana Board Chairman Pawan Kumar stated the exam would not be conducted on the earlier dates as the schedule was not finalized and the dates would be provisional. After the January dates were cancelled, the exam was rescheduled to May 30 and 31, 2026, and then postponed to June 13 and 14, 2026, but those dates were cancelled.
Though there is no official reason for the postponement, it is believed to be administrative and logistical. Although the board has not published a detailed explanation, it is believed that the decision to schedule the examination was revised within four days. As of May 30, 2026, BSEH has not published a new exam date.
What the Recent HTET Delays Mean and What Affected Candidates Should Do Now
For around 245,000 candidates who applied for HTET 2026, the BSEH postponement is a third disruption in five months. The 2025 postponement of HTET is still within the recent memory for candidates. After multiple postponements, BSEH conducted HTET 2025 on July 26 and 27, 2025. Thus, candidates can expect another HTET 2026 exam window based on the postponements of HTET 2025. The BSEH is also likely to conduct an additional HTET 2026 exam within the October - November timeframe to comply with the court order for annual testing
Candidates should now monitor the HTET 2026 announcements from BSEH on bseh.org.in. BSEH will first post an official announcement about HTET 2026 on bseh.org.in before making any other announcements. Candidates should avoid making travel plans or taking leave based on unofficial and unverified announcements of exam dates. Do not rely on social media and instead check bseh.org.in for the official exam and admit card announcements.
Candidates can expect to find a revised exam date on bseh.org.in, an announcement about the release of admission cards, and details about the exam centre. The admission cards will be available on bseh.org.in approximately seven to ten days prior to the rescheduled exam. Admission cards are to be printed and presented at the exam centre along with another government-issued photo ID.\
HTET Level 1 includes Child Development and Pedagogy at all three levels. This section is 30 marks in each level. For Level 1, you also need to cover Mathematics and Environmental Studies, each is also 30 marks. For Level 2 and Level 3, given the considerable emphasis on domain knowledge in the documents, prioritising subject-specific preparation is crucial.
