New Delhi | February 17, 2026 : The Ministry of Education organised a special session titled “Pushing the Frontier of AI in India” at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The session highlighted the government’s vision to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) across education systems to strengthen India’s global knowledge leadership.
The session was attended by Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan, and was also graced by Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge).
AI Key to Viksit Bharat 2047 Vision
Addressing the gathering, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan described the India AI Impact Summit as a path-breaking initiative envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to accelerate the growth and responsible adoption of AI in India.
Highlighting India’s rapid technological progress, the Minister said the world is increasingly looking towards India as the country embraces AI at an unprecedented pace. He expressed confidence that AI will play a transformative role in positioning India as a global knowledge superpower, contributing significantly to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Emphasising the role of young innovators, Shri Pradhan remarked that “AI in education and education in AI are deeply interconnected”, urging students and young professionals to harness AI to educate, empower, and create innovative solutions with global impact.
Structured Integration of AI Across Education
Speaking on the occasion, Jayant Chaudhary said that deliberations at #IndiaAIImpactSummit2026 focused on structured AI integration across the entire education spectrum—ranging from foundational learning and skilling to advanced research and global leadership.
He also highlighted his visit to the Ministry of Education and Skill India pavilions, which showcased India-first, scalable AI solutions translating policy vision into on-ground impact.
Strong Foundation for AI-Enabled Education
Over the past decade, the Ministry of Education has laid a strong foundation for AI-enabled education through national digital platforms, policy frameworks, institutional reforms, and large-scale capacity-building initiatives across school education, higher education, skilling, and advanced research.
Following last year’s Union Budget announcement, the government established a Centre of Excellence in AI for Education at IIT Madras. The Ministry has also conducted extensive consultations with academia, industry, civil society, and government bodies to chart a national roadmap for AI integration in education.
Recently, the Education Minister also chaired the Bharat Bodhan AI Conclave 2026, bringing together AI startup founders and key stakeholders to advance responsible AI-driven transformation.
Eminent Panelists and Focus on Scalable Impact
The session featured eminent leaders from academia, industry, and the investment ecosystem, including Sridhar Vembu, Zoho Corporation; Rajan Anandan of Peak XV Partners; and senior academic leaders from IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, and IIT Jammu.
Moderated by Prof. Manoj S. Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu, the discussion focused on governance frameworks, national learning platforms, indigenous AI innovation, and the responsible deployment of frontier AI models to improve education outcomes at scale.
Towards a National AI-in-Education Roadmap
The session concluded with a strong emphasis on systemic interventions rather than isolated pilots, showcasing how policy, institutions, and technology are being aligned for sustainable nationwide impact. The deliberations aimed to further strengthen industry–academia–government collaboration and advance India’s national AI-in-education roadmap.
