Hijab Not Allowed for PU Exams

State Education minister says it is not part of uniform.

 

Bengaluru : Ahead of the Karnataka PU exams that will be conducted from March 9, education minister of the state, Mr. B. C. Nagesh stated that students wearing hijab will not be allowed inside the examination centres.

In a statement to reporters in Bengaluru, he said, “Rules have to be followed. The educational institutions and the government are acting as per the set rules.” Although there is no exact number with the Education Department, the minister said there was an improvement in the number of Muslim students who appeared for the examinations after the hijab ban.

In the previous hearing of the hijab row case, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud informed the court that a bench would be created and the issue would be considered. The case is most likely to be listed after the Holi vacation.
