HGI Signs MoU with Philippines' University of Southern Mindanao to Boost Global Education

HGI has formed a partnership with USM through a MoU. This will facilitate exchange of students and faculty, joint research, curriculum building and emerging technologies and other areas of international academic collaboration.

Chennai, July 20, 2026: Hindustan Group of Institutions (HGI), India, and the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), Philippines, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote international academic partnerships. This agreement provides the framework for the exchange of faculty and students; collaborative research and study; joint academic programs and curriculum development; innovation and entrepreneurship; cultural exchanges; and sharing of academic skills and best practices.

The MoU was signed recently in the presence of senior staff from both institutions, including Dr. Jonald Lozarito Pimentel, SUC President IV, Prof. Dr. Marcos Fernandez Monderin, Director, International Affairs, University of Southern Mindanao, and the leadership and staff of the Hindustan Group of Institutions.

The MoU will provide a framework for both HGI and USM to collaborate in new areas, including:

  • AI
  • Drone Technology
  • Electric Mobility
  • Data Science
  • Smart Agriculture
  • Sustainable Development

The institutions will collaborate on research, innovation, entrepreneurship and academic activities to meet the challenges of a dynamic world.

Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Chairman of Hindustan Group of Institutions, gave the following statement about the partnership:

"As more than a formal agreement, we bring our educational strengths to shine together for the opportunities of students to thrive in a globalized, interrelated world."

He described the significance of new technology and wrote:

"We are thrilled to work in new sectors like Drone Technology and Smart Agriculture, where we can do research together, exchange knowledge, and at the same time create solutions that have a positive impact on society and empower the new generation of innovators and leaders."

This connection aligns with several HGI academic projects like the International Certificate Programme on Data Science & Artificial Intelligence and IEEE International Conference on Latest Innovations in Computing and Knowledge 2026 (CLICK 2026).

These projects allow the collaboration of persons in the fields of research, education, and industry, including students and innovators, to advance the following fields:

The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) is highly regarded for its work in education, research, and community services dedicated to sustainable development.
