Gujarat University Sets October 19 Deadline for Integrated Law Semester IX Journal Submission

Ahmedabad: Gujarat University has directed affiliated colleges offering five-year integrated law programmes to submit Semester IX journals for the October 2026 examinations by October 19. The university issued the circular on October 16, 2026, outlining the procedure colleges must follow while submitting students’ journals and accompanying marksheets. According to the circular issued by the university’s examination department, the journals must be submitted at the Examination Center-Law, Examination Bhavan, Gujarat University, between 10 am and 4 pm on October 19. The instructions apply to Integrated Law Semester IX examinations and cover the journal submissions required for the relevant examination papers. The university has instructed colleges to follow the prescribed procedure while preparing and organising the submissions. It has also made clear that journals will not be accepted after the specified date.

Two Examination Papers Covered Under the Circular

The circular identifies two papers for which colleges must prepare separate written submissions:

  • IL 505: Drafting, Pleading and Conveyance

  • IL 506: Dissertation and Viva

Each affiliated integrated law college must submit the required journals separately for the two subjects. The university has instructed colleges to write the university seat numbers on the submissions and organise them according to the prescribed student lists. The documents must be arranged into bundles of 20 journals each before being sent to the university. Colleges are required to ensure that the submissions are organised correctly and that the seat numbers correspond to the relevant students. The circular also includes separate marksheet formats for the two papers. The format for Drafting, Pleading and Conveyance carries a maximum of 90 marks, while the Dissertation and Viva paper has a maximum of 100 marks, divided into 70 marks for the dissertation and 30 marks for the viva.

Colleges Must Follow the Prescribed Marks Submission Procedure

The university has clarified that colleges must enter only the names and university seat numbers of their students in the accompanying formats. Colleges are not required to fill in the marks themselves. For students who have not submitted a journal, the college must mark the relevant entry as “Absent” in red ink against the student's name and seat number on the corresponding marksheet. This requirement applies to the specific paper for which the journal has not been submitted. The circular further instructs colleges to arrange the journals according to the candidate list and the forms provided by the university. Submissions that do not follow the prescribed arrangement may not be accepted. These instructions place responsibility on affiliated colleges to check the students' details and organise the journals before sending them to the examination centre.

No Journals Will Be Accepted After October 19

Gujarat University has explicitly stated that journals will not be accepted after October 19, 2026, under any circumstances. Colleges therefore have a limited period to complete the required paperwork, prepare the bundles and deliver the journals within the designated hours. The circular was issued on October 16 and addressed to principals of affiliated integrated law colleges. Colleges need to communicate the requirements to the staff responsible for preparing the examination documents and ensure that the submissions reach the designated centre within the prescribed window. Students enrolled in Semester IX of the five-year integrated law programmes should contact their respective colleges if they need clarification about journal submission requirements. The circular places the submission responsibility on the colleges rather than asking students to submit the journals individually.

Where to Check the Official Circular

Colleges and students can refer to the circular issued by Gujarat University on October 16, 2026, for the complete submission instructions and the accompanying marksheet formats.
