Gujarat Board makes changes in the Computer Science Syllabus After 13 Years

The Gujarat education board has announced a major overhaul of its computer curriculum to include modern tech topics like AI, cybersecurity and data analytics starting from the 2026-27 academic year.

Gujarat:  The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has unveiled a long-awaited revision of the computer science curriculum — the first update in 13 years. The overhaul will take effect from the 2026-27 academic year for Classes 9 and 11, with extensions to other classes in subsequent years.

The updated syllabus replaces outdated topics like 3G networks, basic HTML, and older computing standards with current, industry-relevant subjects such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), and Robotics. These changes are designed to align Gujarat’s board curriculum with real-world digital skills and global standards, including those followed by CBSE and NCERT.

Alongside the curriculum revision, 28 new or updated textbooks will be introduced across multiple classes to support immersive learning. Educationists have welcomed the move as a vital step toward preparing students for future careers in technology and digital innovation.
