The Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) invites applications for 213 Class I & II Posts, including Gujarat Administrative Service, Deputy Superintendent of Police, and Mamlatdar, among others. Preliminary Exam is to be conducted on 07th June 2026. Mains are tentatively scheduled between 5th and 10th October 2026.

The launch of state-level administrative recruitment this year by the Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) is sure to excite any recruiter's interest. For Advertisement No. 5/2026-27, the first report stated 71 vacancies. That figure has increased to 213 openings for both Class I and Class II positions in various departments.

The position of Class I and Class II Gujarat government service administrative positions is one of the top positions in state service. Other posts included in the recruitment are Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy.SP), Mamlatdar, Government Labour Officer, Social Welfare Officer, and Class II Officers of the Gujarat Municipal Chief Officer Service. Who Can Apply, How Applications are Processed, and Details of the Exam

To be considered for the GPSC Class I and II in 2026, applicants must have obtained a Bachelor’s degree in any subject from a University established through an Act of Parliament, a State Legislature or a University declared as deemed to be a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act. Final year students can sit for the Preliminary Exam, but have to submit their degree certificate with their Main Exam application. The age of applicants is restricted to between 20 and 35 years. For the reserved categories, ex-servicemen and Persons with disabilities, age relaxations are prescribed by the Government of Gujarat.

The Selection Process comprises three stages. The Preliminary Exam is a screening exam comprised of one General Studies paper of 200 marks, to be completed in 3 hours. This stage is qualifying, and the marks of this exam are not considered for final merit. Candidates who qualify for the Prelims are then subjected to the Main Written Exam, which is a multi-paper exam of a descriptive nature, consisting of Gujarati, English, essay, and multiple General Studies papers focusing on governance, ethics, economy and regional affairs, and a Personality Test, which is an interview. The merit for final selection is based on performance in the Mains and Personality Test, taken together.

For the Post of Deputy Superintendent of Police, candidates must meet physical standards for height and chest measurements. They will also have to sit for a medical and physical exam as part of the selection process.

 

Salary Structure, Admit Card, and What Candidates Need to Do Next

The GPSC Class I and II posts have a specific salary structure under the 7th Pay Commission. Class I posts, such as the Gujarat Administrative Service and the Deputy Superintendent of Police, are at Pay Level 10, with a salary range of Rs 56,100 to Rs 1,77,500. Class II posts are at Pay Level 8, with a salary of Rs 44,900 to Rs 1,42,400. Both posts have the Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Travel Allowance (TA), and other allowances as per the rules for state government services.

Candidates who have applied must download the Preliminary Examination admit card from gpsc-ojas.gujarat.gov.in as and when it is released before the exam on June 7. The admit card is required for entry to the examination and must be carried along with a government-issued photo identity proof.
