The sports department of Goa University has commenced the Inter-College Table Tennis Championship 2026-27 for men and women from today, August 10, 2026. The prestigious state-level sports meet is scheduled to be held at the SAG Multipurpose Hall in Peddem, Goa. The student-athletes from affiliated colleges in Goa have assembled at the venue to demonstrate their sports skills. The table tennis tournament will be held for five consecutive days from today, August 10 to August 14, 2026. The matches will commence from 9:30 AM in the morning and will conclude at 5:30 PM in the evening. The young sports persons have eagerly waited for the event, and finally, the tournament has officially kicked off today. The sports committee officials of Goa University have organized an inauguration ceremony in the morning where the team leaders of the participating colleges have assembled.
Tournament Format and Match Rules For Inter College Table Tennis Championship 2026 to 2027 -
The Goa University sports committee has laid down certain guidelines for the college teams that have participated in the tournament. The inter-college table tennis championship has been played in accordance with the rules and regulations set by the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI). The entire tournament has been held on the lines of the Swaythling Cup. Each team has three players, and the players have been labeled as A, B, C, and X, Y, Z. A team wins by scoring two games in a set. The college teams that have registered three victories will be declared the winners. Every team participating in the tournament has a minimum of three players and a maximum of five players in men’s and women’s categories.
Entry Formalities and Safety Guidelines Set By Goa University For The Tournament -
The sports committee of Goa University has taken all necessary precautions to ensure the smooth conduct of the tournament. The college teams that have participated in the championship had to complete the entry formalities before the commencement of the event. The last date to apply through the Google form was August 3, 2026, and the colleges had to submit their eligible student names by August 5, 2026. The draw of lots ceremony was held on August 3, 2026, in the presence of the college representatives. In addition, the university has issued certain health and medical guidelines for the sports persons. The physical education directors of the respective colleges have been directed to ensure that the students are fit to play the games. The first aid facility and medical support will be available at the sports complex in Peddem to ensure that the students do not face any health hazards.

There has been a special kind of enthusiasm witnessed at the sports complex on the opening day of the championship. The students from arts, science, commerce, and professional colleges in Goa have trained hard for the tournament. Winning the inter-college table tennis championship has become a matter of prestige for the students in Goa. Apart from medals and trophies, the young sports persons who have excelled in the tournament will get an opportunity to represent Goa University in the inter-varsity sports events. The physical education directors of the colleges have arrived at the indoor stadium to wish their students good luck and have encouraged them to give their best performance in the tournament. The students have gathered in large numbers at the Peddem indoor sports complex to witness the thrilling matches.
Inter College Table Tennis Championship 2026-27 Part Of Broader Sports Calendar Of Goa University -
The table tennis championship is a part of a long list of inter-collegiate sports events scheduled to be held during the 2026-27 academic session. The Goa University sports council has planned to organize 39 inter-collegiate sports tournaments in 22 disciplines for men and women. The sports meet in different disciplines will start from late July with the Judo championship and the table tennis tournament will be held from today, August 10, 2026. The university will organize other popular sports events, including Taekwondo, Badminton, Weightlifting, Chess, Kabaddi, Swimming, etc., in different venues across Goa. The sports committee of Goa University feels that such sports events will keep the young students engaged and encourage them to keep fit. The results of the table tennis championship will be declared at the end of each day of the tournament, and the sports department will keep the student-athletes posted about the daily results.
