Goa University Invites Proposals Under DST PURSE Handholding and Start up Scheme

A university-backed initiative to support early-stage innovations and startups by Goan entrepreneurs.

Goa: Goa University has invited applications under its Handholding and Start-up Scheme, supported by the DST-PURSE (Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence) programme. The initiative is being implemented in line with the Goa University Innovation, Incubation and Start-up Policy and aims to encourage innovation-led entrepreneurship addressing societal and technological challenges in the state.

The scheme is open to Goan residents aged 18 to 62 years and focuses on enabling proof-of-concept development, feasibility studies, and early-stage startup ideas. Selected proposals will receive financial support, mentorship from Goa University faculty, access to infrastructure, and networking opportunities with investors and experts.

Key points:

  • Applications invited in Science, Social Science, and Language & Literature domains

  • Funding support ranging from ₹20,000 to ₹1 lakh per project (80% university share)

  • Five to ten proposals to be supported annually

  • Mandatory mentorship by a Goa University faculty member

  • Applications to be submitted online through the YUKTI National Innovation Repository

  • Last date for submission: January 27, 2026

  • Shortlisting and presentations scheduled in February 2026
