As reported on today’s official notification from Goa University, the last date to apply for the second round of admissions to postgraduate degree and research programs have been shifted. Eligible degree-seeking students currently in pursuing academics at universities across India have been given an opportunity to apply till 16 th August 2026 for securing a seat at Goa University for the 2026-27 session. The university administration responded to numerous student requests in extending the last date for submission of online applications as several students reported technical issues while accessing the application portal. In addition, authorities state that the additional time will facilitate students in arranging required documents for applying to courses at Goa University.
Courses Offered at Goa University -
As per the latest application guidelines published by the admission office, Goa University is offering second round of admissions to both postgraduate (PG) and PhD courses. Under the UG admissions, seats are available in different specializations such as B.Com, B.Sc, B.A, and professional degree programs. Additionally, candidates also apply to specialized science courses offered at the university such as Marine Microbiology, Biotechnology, Applied Geology, Computer Science, and Artificial Intelligence. At the postgraduate level, students can opt for Master’s degree programs in Commerce, Arts, Science and professional courses. Furthermore, for those interested in doctoral studies, seats are also available at Goa University for Ph.D. degree in humanities, social sciences, commerce, and science.
Eligibility Criteria for Applying to Courses at Goa University -
In order to apply for second round of admissions opening at Goa University, candidates need to fulfill eligibility criteria set by the university. As per the latest guidelines, applicants need to possess a bachelor’s degree in the relevant specialization with the required percentage of marks in order to be considered eligible for applying to postgraduate courses. Admission will be offered on the basis of rank secured by candidates qualifying the Goa University Admission Ranking Test (GU-ART). Additionally, for applying to PhD programs, a candidate needs to hold Master’s degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade. Additionally, candidates appearing for national level competitive exams such as NET, SET, GATE, GPAT, and Goa University Ph.D. Entrance Test (GU-PET) will be considered eligible for admission after qualifying written examination.
Procedure to Fill the Application Form -
As directed by the admission authorities, eligible candidates are advised to follow a step-by-step procedure for filling the application form without errors so as to avoid discrepancies while submitting the form through the Goa University Management System (GUMS) portal. First of all, candidates need to visit the official website at unigoa.ac.in and click on the link that says “Admissions 2026-27” in order to register themselves by providing valid email address and mobile number. Secondly, applicants are required to enter personal and academic details and select the course/department of their choice. Thirdly, scanning of required documents and uploading of scanned copies should be done as directed by the portal. Lastly, a processing fee needs to be paid through online mode of payment. In addition, candidates are advised to save a copy of the filled form as a PDF for future reference.
What Happens After Applying to Goa University?
After the last date for submission of application forms i.e., 16 th August 2026, the Goa University administration will start processing the received applications. The tentative admission list will be published on the official website after verifying the details of each submitted application. Additionally, a merit list will also be published so that students can keep track on their status regarding admission. The selected applicants will be informed about the document verification process as well as the payment of semester fee so as to confirm their admission.
