Panaji: The Goa government has provided support to more than 11,000 children with special needs under an education scheme in the 2025–26 academic year.
Around ₹2.8 crore has been spent on this scheme. This is higher compared to last year, showing an increase in support.
The scheme covers children studying in special schools as well as those in regular schools with support facilities. The aim is to help them continue their education without difficulty.
Students are given services like speech therapy and physiotherapy. Some also get help with transport and escorts so they can attend school regularly.
The government is also providing financial help and assistive devices to improve learning. Special focus is given to girls with disabilities to encourage them to stay in school.
Officials said more children have been reached this year. The scheme is part of efforts to make education more inclusive in the state.
