Kolkata,: GLF Business School, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), West Bengal Regional Branch, successfully organized its annual flagship international conference AI Horizons 2025 on the theme “Co-creating the Future” on 12 December 2025 in Kolkata. The conference brought together policymakers, industry leaders, academicians, scientists, and researchers to deliberate on the growing role of artificial intelligence in governance, industry, research, and societal development.
The conference was inaugurated by Shri Manjit Nayak, Director, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), who delivered the Inaugural Address and highlighted the importance of AI-driven innovation and digital ecosystems in India’s development journey. Prof. Lopamudra Bhattacharyya, Founder and CEO, GLF Business School, delivered the Welcome Address, outlining the vision and objectives of AI Horizons 2025. Prof. Sibranjan Chatterjee, Honorary Secretary, IIPA West Bengal Regional Branch, spoke on IIPA’s role in building a collaborative governance ecosystem, while Prof. Avijit Banerjee, Director, GLF Business School, presented the Theme Address emphasizing collaboration among academia, industry, and government for an inclusive and sustainable AI-powered future.
A dedicated session on Governance and Inclusive Development, chaired by Dr. Suparno Moitra, Economist and Public Policy Specialist, featured insights from Mr. Indranil Basu, Joint Secretary, Government of West Bengal (Disaster Management Department), and Mr. Soumalya Ghosh, Deputy Secretary, Government of West Bengal (Fire Department). The session focused on strengthening governance frameworks, improving institutional responsiveness, and ensuring citizen-centric and sustainable development.
One of the key highlights of AI Horizons 2025 was the session titled “How AI Is Reshaping Fundamental and Translational Research”, which brought together eminent scientists from leading research institutions in India and the United States. The session examined how artificial intelligence is accelerating scientific discovery, enhancing translational research, and enabling interdisciplinary collaboration across biomedical and life sciences. The distinguished speakers included Prof. Tanya Das, Former ICMR Emeritus Scientist, Bose Institute; Dr. Saikat Chakrabarti, Senior Principal Scientist and Deputy Head, CSIR-IICB; Dr. Asish Ray Chaudhuri, University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine, Texas, USA; and Prof. Gaurisankar Sa, ICMR Emeritus Scientist, Bose Institute. The experts were felicitated by Prof. Lopamudra Bhattacharyya and Prof. Avijit Banerjee in recognition of their contributions to scientific research.
The conference also featured an industry-focused session on “Sustainable Industry and Generative AI”, which explored how generative AI is driving sustainability, operational efficiency, and innovation across sectors. The session opened with a Keynote Address by Dr. Indranil Mitra, Partner, PwC, who emphasized the strategic role of generative AI in enabling sustainable business models and informed decision-making. Chaired by Prof. Sukumar Ray Chaudhuri, Director, Meghnath Saha Institute of Technology, the session included industry perspectives from Mr. Kaushik Ghosh, Executive Director and CEO, Globe India (a unit of Yatra Online), and Mr. Anurup Das, Associate Director, Cognizant Consulting.
A combined roundtable discussion brought together two themes—Digital Transformation and the Future of AI and AI-Driven Innovation and Societal Mobilization—into an interactive forum. Chaired by Mr. Surya Narayan Saha, author of “Reform”, the roundtable featured insights from Mr. Goutam Kanjilal, Global Head – Solutions and Delivery, Exavalu; Mr. Animesh Mukherjee, AVP – Insurance Solutions, Zensar Technologies; Ms. Aindrila Basu, Associate Partner – Financial Services, IBM; Mr. Arunashish Ghosh, Associate Partner, Tech Mahindra Consulting; Mr. Raution Jaiswal, CEO, InsuredMine; Mr. Chandi Prasad Ojha, CTO, Movate; and Mr. Sovik Sinha Chowdhury, Co-Founder and COO, IEMLabs. The discussion highlighted AI’s role in driving innovation, enhancing digital ecosystems, and enabling inclusive societal impact.
AI Horizons 2025 concluded with the felicitation of distinguished speakers by Prof. Lopamudra Bhattacharyya and Prof. Avijit Banerjee, reaffirming the conference’s position as a collaborative platform for advancing dialogue on the future of artificial intelligence across academia, industry, and governance.
