Guwahati ; The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has extended the registration deadline for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026. Candidates can now apply without a late fee until October 6, 2025, while those applying later can submit their forms with an additional late fee until October 9, 2025.
GATE 2026 will be held on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026 in two sessions each day—9:30 am to 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The results will be declared on March 19, 2026.
The exam offers opportunities in postgraduate admissions (MTech, ME, PhD, and other programmes) at leading institutes as well as recruitment in PSUs. GATE scores are also used for scholarships, fellowships, and admissions to select management programmes at premier institutes including IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Kozhikode, IIT Delhi, IIM Lucknow, IIM Mumbai, IIM Calcutta, IIM Indore, MDI, and XLRI Jamshedpur.
Eligibility
Candidates in the third year or higher of an undergraduate programme or those who have completed a degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities can apply.
Applicants with professional society certifications must ensure their qualification is recognised by MoE, AICTE, UGC, or UPSC as equivalent to BE/BTech.
International students from recognised institutions can apply if they are in their third year or have completed a bachelor’s degree of at least three years.
