FSSAI has invited applications for 15 Group A and C posts, including Joint Director, Manager IT and Junior Assistant Grade II, on a deputation basis. Eligible government employees can apply online at fssai.gov.in until June 26, 2026, with no application fee required for these posts.

FSSAI Notification Regarding 15 Group A and C Vacancies

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has released Circular DEP-02/2026 and has opened applications for 15 Group A and C posts available on deputation. FSSAI, under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, is the highest food safety regulator in India, and is responsible for licensing, setting and enforcing standards in the food industry.

The online applications opened on 06.06.2026 and will close on 26.06.2026. This is a deputation drive, and only employees of the eligible departments will be able to apply.

Highlights of the notification:

  • Circular Number: DEP-02/2026
  • Number of vacancies: 15 (indicative, may vary)
  • Mode: Deputation/ Foreign Service Terms
  • Application timeline: 06.06.2026 to 26.06.2026
  • Applications to be submitted through: fssai.gov.in under the jobs@fssai (careers) tab

Central Government, State Governments, Union Territories, universities, recognized research institutions, public sector undertakings, and statutory or autonomous bodies’ serving officers may apply. Candidates who had applied under the earlier deputation notice, DEP-01/2025, for the posts of Joint Director and Manager IT, need not apply again for the same posts.

Breakdown of Posts, Pay Levels and Eligibility

The 15 positions are divided into three posts, each defining specific pay levels and eligibility criteria. Knowing this information helps the applicant to see whether s/he falls within the eligible service subgroup and helps applicant to avoid the trouble of preparing the cumbersome deputation application.

The distribution of vacancies is as below:

  • Joint Director: 3 posts, Pay Level 12, Group A
  • Manager (IT): 2 posts, Pay Level 11, Group A
  • Junior Assistant Grade II: 10 posts, Pay Level 2, Group C

As for all three posts, the candidates should presently be working in the same or an analogous post. Candidates should also be in the same or in the lower pay level as the post carries, as well as possess the required educational qualifications. For example, to qualify for Manager IT, the candidate should possess a degree in computer science or in an allied area of engineering.

The age limit is the same for all three posts. The upper age limit for appointment on deputation is 56 years as on the closing date of submission of the online application (June 26, 2026). Age relaxation is as per government orders for reserved categories.

The tenure of deputation differs across posts:

  • Junior Assistant Grade II: 3 years, extendable
  • Manager IT: 2 years, extendable
  • Joint Director: 1 year, extendable

Application Procedure, Costs, & Key Dates

In contrast to most central recruitment drives, FSSAI's notification has not imposed a requirement on what would usually be paid as a cost for application or examination for approaches to recruitment by deputation, as is usually the case for recruitment by other government organizations.

However, the application for the post is not limited to filling out an online application form. Instead, it involves a submission procedure in two phases. Candidates are required to:

  • Submit the application online on fssai.gov.in from June 6, 2026, to June 26, 2026
  • Print a copy of the application
  • Obtain the printed application form countersigned by the employer or cadre controlling authority to certify that no vigilance and disciplinary case is pending and to verify the integrity of the applicant
  • Submit the printed application form along with the countersigned form, the last five years’ Annual Performance Appraisal Reports, and a No Objection Certificate (NOC) with a vigilance clearance to the FSSAI headquarters, through the proper channel, by the likely date of July 20, 2026.

Submitting an application online is therefore not sufficient. The printed application form routed through the applicant’s parent department is, according to FSSAI, mandatory.

It should also be noted that the number of vacancies is subject to change, as these are only indicative. Intentions to apply should be communicated internally without delay, as the countersigned form, from the employer, is usually the most time-consuming. It is likely that this will be the most time-consuming step before the submission deadline of July 20, 2026.
