Five-Day Online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) began at JMI

New Delhi. : A five-day Online Faculty Development Program (FDP) being organised by the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management (DTHM) , Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) in association with AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy began today. The FDP commenced with the welcome address by the HoD, DTHM, JMI and Convener of the FDP, Dr. Sarah Hussain.

In her address Dr Hussain deliberated upon the collaborative FDP and its importance in the contemporary times. She enlisted various issues which the FDP would touch upon and enumerated the eminent panellists who will be sharing their experienced insights which shall benefit the FDP participants. On behalf of the department, Dr. Hussain, offered her deepest thanks to the Vice Chancellor, JMI, Prof. Najma Akhtar for her support to the FDP.

This was followed by the keynote address by Shri. Rakesh Mathur (Honorary President, Responsible Tourism Society of India). He outlined the evolution of Responsible Tourism in India especially in the Tourism Industry covering the Travel, Accommodation and other ancillary segments and all other stakeholders.

The co-convener of the FDP, Prof. Nimit Chowdhary, offered the Vote of thanks Keynote Speaker and stressed about the relevance of Responsible Tourism.

The First session of the FDP was initiated with the introductory discussions by the eminent International Speaker, Prof. Harold Goodwin (Advisor, WTM Responsible Tourism Emeritus Professor) gave an insight on responsible tourism.

In the Post Lunch session, Mr. K Rupesh Kumar (Coordinator, State Responsible Tourism Mission, Nodal Officer for Kerala) shared his experiences from Kerala showcasing the exemplary and very successful model of the Responsible Tourism Mission talking about the Responsible Tourism Resource Mapping elaborating on the PEPPER Flow on the involvement Local Community, Potential Tourism Products and Services and experiential tourism activities.
