Five-day Film appreciation course inaugurates at CUH

Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh organized a five-day film appreciation course in joint collaboration with Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune.

 

Mahendergarh. : Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh organized a five-day film appreciation course in joint collaboration with Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. The course was exclusively organised for the scheduled tribe students and Students of the department of Journalism and Mass Communication.On the third day of the film appreciation course Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar was the chief guest of the event. Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar said for holistic development, knowledge of various fields is necessary for the students. They need to learn different type of skills and knowledge to become an efficient professional and a good citizen.

Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar said the films are a very effective medium of communication. People are fond of films, which is also one of the reasons that the Indian film industry is producing more than one thousand films in a year. He said that due to the advancement of technology the medium is changing. Now people have more interest in realistic cinema. People are watching web series and documentary films. He said that students have to learn skills related to the film industry to become an effective communicator and filmmaker. He appreciated the efforts of the department for organizing such activities for the students. Young people are producing films through mobile phones.  The Vice Chancellor motivated the students to make films on social and developmental issues to create awareness in the society.  Registrar Prof. Sunil Kumar also appreciated the efforts of the department.

Dr. Ashok Kumar, Head department of Journalism and Mass Communication welcomed the guests and said that such courses are important to give the new direction to the energy of the youth in the campus. He said that during the course students would learn the grammar of film and various techniques of film production. This course would be proven a lifelong learning experience for the students. National award winners and Director, Avinash Roy and Jasmine Kaur Roy, alumni of the FTII were teaching film appreciation to the students of the various departments of the university. They discussed various aspects of film appreciation, for example, fundamentals of film, various rules of film-making, etc. They showed various short movies to the students and discussed those movies with the students critically. They explained why and how different types of angles, shots and cuts are useful while making a movie. The entire workshop was interactive. Students were asking the question to the resource persons and faculties were answering the questions simultaneously. They also discussed various prominent directors of Bollywood and Hollywood with their film direction techniques. They also discussed various movements of cinemas. Dr. Pankaj Kumar,Coordinator of the course said the purpose of this course is to give content to the students so that they can become good film writers, producers and filmmakers in future. All faculty members of the department and the students were present on this occasion.
