First Ever Degree Ceremony at GGSIPU East Delhi Campus: 490 Students Receive Degrees

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University's East Delhi Campus became the venue for a significant event as the first Degree Distribution Ceremony and Alumni Meet of the University School of Automation and Robotics (USAR) and the University School of Design and Innovation (USDI) took place.

New Delhi, June 21: The first Degree Distribution Ceremony & Alumni Meet was successfully conducted by the University School of Automation and Robotics (USAR), Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), on the East Delhi Campus. The event was history-making in many ways. It marked the graduation of the East Delhi Campus first students, as well as the first Alumni Meet, and was a gathering of graduates, alumni, faculty, university officials, and students for the first time. It was a great moment to celebrate the university's accomplishments and community engagement Gracing the occasion were the Vice Chancellor, senior university officials, faculty members, and distinguished guests.

Dignitaries received as gifts to them, handmade by the Foundation students of the University School of Design and Innovation (USDI), paintings. The students’ gift added to the paintings an exceptional element to the ceremony, and showed the students’ creativity and the school’s and students’ love and passion for Design Thinking. The annual report of the Schools was delivered by Prof. Arvinder Kaur, Dean, University School of Automation and Robotics (USAR) and University School of Design and Innovation (USDI), and gave an overview of the schools’ stellar accomplishments and student achievements in the areas of education, research, and beyond in the previous academic year. Prof. Kaur congratulated students on their graduation and on their accomplishments, and urged them and all present to continue on this journey of excellence and service with integrity and innovation, and to foster a spirit of inquiry and lifelong learning.

The Vice Chancellor's speech aimed to build resilience in inspiring graduates to face upcoming challenges and to use their skills and knowledge to serve society and the nation.

The major event/attraction was the award of degrees to the graduating students of USDI and USAR. During the event, a total of 490 degrees were awarded, which included 474 B. Tech degrees of USAR, and 16 degrees of USDI comprising Bachelor of Design (B. Des.) and Master of Design (M. Des.) degrees. The degrees were awarded in order of the following programs: B. Tech. in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (AI & DS), Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI & ML), Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Automation, and Robotics (AR).

The event was a notable occasion in the history of East Delhi Campus, as it was the first graduating class of the East Delhi Campus, and represented years of commitment and hard work by the students, and the first graduating class of the East Delhi Campus, in their preparation to begin their professional endeavors and pursue higher education opportunities. The ceremony also acknowledged and awarded the Top Three Academic performers of each B. Tech program, and award for their stellar performance and sustained effort during their studies.

Rhythm Kulshrestha, Rahul Jain, and Rai Jaiswal received awards for first, second, and third academic excellence in B. Tech. Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (AI & DS). Yash Gupta, Shambhavi Mishra, and Shantanu Kumar were given awards in recognition of their exceptional academic achievements from the B.Tech Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI & ML) Programme.

Mili Anand, Vipul Goyal, and Vishal Mittal, from the B.Tech Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) Programme, were also awarded, as well as Vrinda Bhardwaj, Shubham Bhardwaj, and Aparna Garg, from the B.Tech Automation & Robotics (AR) Programme, where they were awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Position, respectively. Among the award recipients was Kartikey for Academic Excellence and Creative Excellence from the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) Programme. The award recipients motivate future graduating classes to thrive for excellence in their academic achievements because their accomplishments exemplify perseverance and diligence.

The First Alumni Meet, the most anticipated event, allowed alumni to revisit their university and meet their professors and classmates. The tales and memories shared by alumni during the meet strengthened the relationship the university had with its alumni, as well as jump-starting a flourishing alumni network. The election of the Alumni Committee was also a key feature of the event, where the first roster of alumni was prepared in order to improve collaboration.

The committee is projected to contribute meaningfully toward the promotion of positive alumni engagement with the Institution in support of subsequent academic and developmental activities.
