Mahendergarh : A two-day international conference titled ‘Frontiers in Industrial and Applied Mathematics (FIAM)-2022’ began on Thursday at Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh. Shanti SwarupBhatnagar Awardee Professor Maithilisharan as well as Professor Kehar Singh attended the inaugural session of the conference organized on the occasion of National Mathematics Day. The program was presided over by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar. More than 100 mathematicians and experts from India and abroad are participating in this two-day event. Conference is organized by the Department of Mathematics of the University in collaboration with Defense Research and Development Organisation, Government of India and Science and Engineering Research Board.
Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar appreciated the organizers and said that in today's time the importance of mathematical tools is seen in every field. It is necessary that the efforts in this direction should be focused on the solution of social utility and its related problems. The Vice-Chancellor described this event as strengthening the ongoing efforts in this direction and said that this thinking of socially useful research will play a decisive role in the success of the Atmnirbhar Bharat campaign. The Vice-Chancellor also expressed gratitude to the experts who had participated in the event and said that the participants will definitely get benefit of their knowledge. Prof. Maitlisharan who attended the event as the chief guest discussed in detail about mathematics and its practical application in various fields. He said that the use of mathematics is seen in various fields like health, space science, meteorology, transport etc. That's why in today's time its practical utility is maximum and the possibilities available in it will have to be taken maximum advantage of. In this sequence, the second chief guest of the event, Prof. Kehar Singh highlighted the use and importance of mathematics in ongoing development and related activities at various levels and how without it is not possible for us to move forward at any level. Special guest in the program Prof. K. R.Pardasani said that the importance of mathematics in life and society is very high. He told that FIAM has been working in the field of mathematics for the last five years and this time scholar associated with this field are gathering at Central University of Haryana. In this sequence, Prof. A.C.Benim connected through online medium from Germany while highlighting the subject in detail clarified the use and usefulness of mathematics at various levels and for this systematically emphasized research and innovation.
Prof. Rajesh Gupta, HoD, Department of Mathematicspresenting the welcome speech said that more than 100 participants from India and abroad are participating in the event. He also presented the outline of the two-day event. On this occasion, FIAM Secretary Dr. Rajesh Kumar Sharma apprised the participants about the event and the purpose behind it. After this the souvenir of the conference was released. The stage was conducted by Assistant Professor Dr. Pinky and Dr. Preeti, while in the inaugural session of the program, Prof. A.K. Yadav gave the vote of thanks. The head of the Mathematics Department, Prof. Rajesh Gupta expressed his gratitude to Prof. Anil Yadav, Prof. Phool Singh, Dean Academics Prof. Dinesh Kumar and Head of Department of Statistics, Dr. Kapil Kumar for making the event successful.
