New Delhi: A delegation of Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) along with Adv Monika Arora, EC Member, University of Delhi and LoP Delhi Vidhan Sabha, Shri Ramveer Singh Bidhuri met Shri V K Saxena, Hon'ble LG, Govt of NCT Delhi & apprised him about the ongoing financial crisis and non-payment of salaries to the teaching and non-teaching employees of 12 Colleges of University of Delhi which are fully funded by CM Kejriwal led Delhi Government. Issue of illegally closure of College of Arts (CoA) and making it a department under Ambedkar University of Delhi Government was also discussed.

Prof A K Bhagi, DUTA President informed after the meeting that Hon'ble LG heard the issue of ongoing fund crisis in 12 Delhi Govt funded colleges and cross checked the facts about financial grant needed and so far, provided by the Delhi Government. Prof Bhagi further informed that he has submitted a detailed document showing the deficit of Amount in crores for the financial year 2022-23 of these 12 colleges. He claimed that approximately 120 crore deficit amount was sanctioned by the Delhi Government which is causing problem for the college authorities to manage the daily affairs of colleges and also non-payment of salaries and other allowances.

DUTA Secretary, Dr Surender Singh said that there is an urgent need to sort out the issue of fund crisis as employees are not getting their arrears, students & teachers are suffering because of lack of general infrastructure.

About College of Arts, Prof Bhagi informed that LG has assured that he would look into the earlier records and correspondence of LG office and take steps accordingly. It is pertinent to mention here that LG office has earlier taken stand that if University of Delhi will de-affiliate CoA then only Delhi Govt can merge CoA under AUD but since, DU has not de-affiliated CoA so this closure wouldn't be allowed. Dr Surender Singh further added that case of CoA is also pending in the Court so LG must intervene in the interest of students.
