Round 1 of DU UG CSAS Closes with 63,756 Allocated Seats. What Further Rounds Hold for Those Remaining.
For many students across India, the past few days have been filled with excitement and uncertainty. Many have been refreshing the Delhi University admissions dashboard regularly. That excitement is now over, at least for this round.
According to the announcement by the University of Delhi, Round I of the Undergraduate admissions under the Common Seat Allocation System (UG CSAS) 2026 has been completed, and 63,756 seats have been allocated. While some students have secured a spot in the preferred course, many more aspirants have their admissions journey far from over. They will be waiting for the opportunity to receive an allotment from a preferred college in a more desirable program.
According to the recent admission updates published by the University, 15,265 applicants have selected the “Freeze” option, while 48,153 candidates have selected the “Upgrade” option.
Round 2 Starts from July 25
The University has confirmed that Round II of UG CSAS will commence on July 25, 2026. Candidates who selected the upgrade option must monitor the official admissions portal and their personal dashboards for seat allotment updates and admission instructions.
With classes slated to commence on July 28, the round is expected to witness substantial movement.
What The Numbers Show
The number of filled seats, which stood at 63,756, indicates strong participation in the admission system. However, there is another relevant number. Rather than freezing, over 48,000 students opted to upgrade. This indicates that this group of applicants is aspiring for more highly ranked colleges or more desirable programs. In fact, this behavior is seen among Delhi University admission applicants, many of whom accept available seats but keep their hopes alive for better options in a later admission round.

Freeze vs Upgrade: Its Significance
The most important decision during the CSAS counseling process has to be the decision to "Freeze" or "Upgrade." Candidates who opted for Freeze secured their admission and would continue with their allotted college.
Candidates who opted for Upgrade would be offered a college of higher preference if a seat becomes available. Candidates would need to be attentive to official notifications and would need to complete the admission process promptly if an upgraded allotment is offered.
Failure to respond to dashboard notifications or complete the document verification process on the assigned date would result in loss of the allotted seat.

Beginning July 28, 2026, all undergraduate classes at Delhi University will officially start.
