New Delhi. : The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has opened applications for its prestigious paid internship programme, inviting engineering and science students to apply before December 15, 2025. The six-month internship is scheduled to begin on January 1, 2026, offering hands-on exposure in specialised technical fields.

This opportunity is aimed at academically strong undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in full-time programmes at recognised Indian institutions.

Internship Disciplines Available

DRDO will consider applicants based on their level of study:

For Undergraduate Students

  • Computer Science and Engineering
  • Civil Engineering

For Postgraduate Students

Offered under the Defence Geoinformatics Research Establishment (DGRE):

  • Remote Sensing
  • Geoinformatics

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following conditions:

  • Be enrolled in a full-time Graduate or Postgraduate programme in Engineering or Science
  • Be studying at an AICTE or UGC-recognised college/university
  • Maintain an excellent academic record
  • Be below 28 years of age
  • Meet discipline-wise requirements specified by DRDO/DGRE

Selection Process

  • The selection will be based primarily on academic performance:
  • Minimum 75% marks or 7.5 CGPA required
  • Academic scores from all previous semesters/years will be considered
  • Depending on requirements, shortlisted candidates may be asked to attend an online/telephonic interview or interaction
  • Final selection will be confirmed only after document verification

Stipend Details

  • The internship comes with a stipend, which will be paid under the following conditions:
  • Students must be physically present in the laboratory for at least 15 working days per month
  • Stipend will be released in two instalments:
  • First instalment after three months
  • Second instalment after completion of six months
