Banglore - The Department of Sociology at CHRIST University, in association with the Rotary Club of Bangalore, organised a thought-provoking fireside talk on “Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges” on February 14, 2026, at the CJC Seminar Hall. The one-hour session, held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and invited guests.
The event focused on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). The discussion emphasised the need to create inclusive spaces within educational institutions, workplaces, and communities.
Distinguished speakers included Smt. Sarbani Mallick, Founder Director and Managing Trustee of Bubbles Centre for Autism and Pragati Towards Livelihood; Rtn. Dr. Jija Harisingh (IPS Retd.), former Director General of Police, Karnataka; and Dr. Anita Prasad, Technologist and Institution Builder. The panelists shared their experiences and insights on leadership, resilience, gender justice, and community empowerment.
The interactive session encouraged dialogue on dismantling systemic barriers and fostering collaborative leadership. Participants appreciated the initiative for promoting meaningful conversations on inclusion and social responsibility, reinforcing the university’s commitment to building equitable and socially conscious communities.
