Department of School Education & Literacy Hosts National Conference on Board Curriculum and Assessment Alignment

Focus on Ensuring Equivalence Across Education Boards and Enhancing Student Learning Outcomes

New Delhi: The Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSE&L), Ministry of Education, Government of India, today convened the National Conference on Curricular and Assessment Equivalence of Boards and Improving Learning Outcomes at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi.

The high-level conference brought together more than 250 senior officials, including representatives from the Ministry of Education, State Education Departments, State Education Boards, SCERTs, and Autonomous Bodies such as CBSE, KVS, and NVS.

In his welcome address, Shri Anandrao V. Patil, Additional Secretary, DoSE&L, emphasized two key priorities of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020: the shift towards competency-based learning and the need for comparability in curricula and assessments across school boards.

Chairing the event, Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, DoSE&L, highlighted the significance of creating structured mechanisms to ensure consistency in academic outcomes across India's diverse education systems. He advocated for a collaborative framework that upholds both standardization and the flexibility to address regional needs, aligning with NEP 2020's vision.

Prof. Dinesh Prasad Saklani, Director of NCERT, outlined the pivotal role of PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development) in driving educational reforms. He stressed the importance of aligning assessments with curricular goals and leveraging large-scale assessment data to inform both policy and pedagogy.
