Delhi Govt Reopens Online Skill Courses for Teachers’ Professional Development

Delhi govt reopens NISHTHA, CPD and nano courses for teachers. SCERT offers online training via DIKSHA till March 2026.

New Delhi: The Delhi government has reopened a wide range of online professional development courses for teachers across the capital, aiming to strengthen pedagogical, digital and leadership skills during the current academic year.

The fresh rollout has been announced by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), which has revived NISHTHA (National Initiative for School Heads’ and Teachers’ Holistic Advancement) courses along with General Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programmes and short-term nano courses.

Courses Open for All School Categories

The training programmes are open to teachers, school heads and teacher educators from:

  • Government schools
  • Government-aided schools
  • Unaided and private schools

This inclusive approach aims to ensure uniform upskilling across Delhi’s entire school ecosystem.

Focus on Foundational Education Under NISHTHA

Under the NISHTHA framework, courses will focus on:

  • Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN)
  • Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE)

The modules are being offered in English, Hindi and Urdu, aligning classroom practices with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP), especially at the foundational stage.

Wide-Ranging CPD and Nano Courses

  • The General CPD courses will cover contemporary and emerging themes such as:
  • Cyber safety and cyber crime awareness
  • Responsible use of social media and digital wellbeing
  • Inclusive education and techno-pedagogy
  • Media and financial literacy
  • Data privacy and online safety
  • Environmental issues including e-waste
  • Action research and use of Open Educational Resources (OER)

Additionally, nano courses focusing on online safety and digital awareness will also be available for quick, targeted learning.

Registration Through DIKSHA Platform

Teachers can enrol in all courses through the DIKSHA platform, where the content is hosted in a fully digital format. The platform offers:

  • Video-based lessons
  • Reading resources
  • Online assessments

Participants can complete the courses at their own pace within the given timeline.

Important Deadlines

  • Last date for enrolment: March 10, 2026
  • Final date to complete courses: March 15, 2026

SCERT has cautioned that course links will be deactivated after the deadline, and teachers are advised to adhere strictly to the schedule.

The initiative is expected to significantly enhance teachers’ professional competencies and ensure wider access to updated teaching practices and digital skills across Delhi schools.
