New Delhi, November 11, 2025: In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Delhi government has launched a large-scale, technology-driven audit of over 1,000 government schools, using drones, 360-degree imaging, and AI-based digital analysis to create detailed digital profiles of each campus.
The project aims to modernize school infrastructure management by identifying safety gaps, assessing physical conditions, and planning long-term upgrades through real-time data insights.
According to official documents, the audit will cover 1,086 government schools across 799 premises, generating a digital profile for each institution with comprehensive information on infrastructure, available facilities, safety measures, and overall condition.
What the Digital Profiling Will Include
The initiative integrates multiple layers of data into a single centralized system. Each school’s profile will assess:

Structural stability and safety history of buildings

Availability and condition of classrooms, laboratories, furniture, and sports infrastructure

Status of essential utilities such as toilets, water supply, and electrical fittings

Readiness for emergency and disaster management compliance
Every asset will be categorized as:
Good, Minor Repair, Major Repair, or Replacement Needed — ensuring timely interventions and efficient maintenance planning.
Officials emphasized that the central platform will help streamline infrastructure audits, repairs, and safety monitoring across Delhi’s government schools.
Advanced Technology for Real-Time Assessment
The designated agency will use drones, high-resolution cameras, and 360° room scanners to conduct on-site digital surveys. Data collected during the exercise will be instantly uploaded to a web-based application equipped with:

Alerts for non-compliance with CBSE, NDMA, and other regulatory standards
This real-time platform will empower policymakers and officials to track deficiencies, prioritize repairs, and enhance infrastructure quality through interactive dashboards.
Structural Safety Audits with IITs and NITs
In addition to digital mapping, the audit will include structural stability checks under the supervision of certified engineers. These will involve visual inspections and non-destructive testing methods like rebound hammer and ultrasonic pulse velocity tests.
Reports indicating structural concerns will be reviewed by experts from IITs and NITs. Based on their recommendations, authorities may implement corrective actions such as waterproofing, retrofitting, or even demolition in severe cases.
Towards Safer and Smarter Learning Spaces
The Delhi government described the initiative as a landmark step toward creating a digital infrastructure inventory of all schools in the capital.
By integrating AI-driven analytics, drone-based documentation, and engineering expertise, the project aims to ensure safer, well-equipped, and future-ready school environments for lakhs of students across Delhi.
Officials said the initiative will serve as a model for other states to adopt data-backed education infrastructure management systems in the future.
