NEW DELHI: Delhi Education Minister Shri Ashish Sood today (October 12, 2026) termed the Aam Aadmi Party’s decade-long claims of an “education revolution” a mere publicity stunt and PR gimmick confined strictly to elite pockets of Lutyens’ Delhi.
Speaking at the grand inauguration of the modern Government Girls and Co-ed Senior Secondary School in Sector 16B, Dwarka, Shri Sood declared that under Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, Delhi has transitioned from “photo-op education” to systemic transformation with absolute parity for every corner of the capital.
Infrastructure Marvel in Dwarka
Built at an outlay of ₹33.27 crore, the newly inaugurated campus in Sector 16B, Dwarka, spans 8,000 square meters and is equipped to accommodate 2,000 students. The world-class facility features:
- 75 classrooms, including 12 brand-new smart classrooms.
- An ICT Lab outfitted with 40 computers, alongside dedicated language lab computers and specialised science laboratories.
- Inclusive and sustainable design: Complete CWSN (Children with Special Needs) accessibility with ramps, lifts, and integrated rainwater harvesting systems.
Addressing the gathering, Education Minister Shri Ashish Sood emphasised the symbolic weight of the school’s location:
“The so-called ‘education revolution’ that previous ministers spent 10 years beating their chests about was strictly confined between Patparganj and Rouse Avenue. Whenever foreign dignitaries visited, they were paraded through the same handful of showpiece schools. Today, right here in Dwarka, this campus proves that the days of stepmotherly treatment toward West Delhi and rural Delhi are finally over.”
Exposing AAP’s PR Model and Delivering Ground-Level Parity
Delivering a scathing critique of AAP’s governance model, Shri Sood noted that high-profile leaders educated abroad used Delhi’s public schools primarily for socialising and media visibility, leaving the Education Department with zero documented institutional outcomes from foreign delegates.
Exposing how school visits were casually planned during social events, Shri Sood remarked:
“They attended embassy parties, and as socialites typically operate, they discussed matters over drinks. From there, they would casually decide, ‘Come along, let us tour a school tomorrow morning.’ But after seeing those schools, what concrete educational learnings did you actually adopt from those foreign delegates? What institutional best practices did you share with them? The Delhi Education Department holds zero records of any such outcomes.”
In contrast, Smt. Rekha Gupta’s administration is ensuring equal digital distribution across all municipal zones—from Dwarka to Mandoli, Tughlakabad to Salapur Majra, and Aya Nagar to Bawana.
“Many middle-class households may not have a 75-inch smart TV, but to fulfil Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s vision, Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta ji is equipping our government school students with top-branded smart displays from BenQ, LG, and Samsung. With dedicated budget allocations for Chromebooks, we are driving true personalised learning under the National Education Policy (NEP).”
Overhauling Technical Education and Launching Delhi Skill Mission
Shri Sood highlighted the severe neglect suffered by technical institutes under the previous regime, citing the example of the 8-acre Shahdara ITI campus, which had fallen into dilapidation with barely 200 enrolled students.
To reverse this decay, the Delhi Government is converting ITIs across Narela, Hari Nagar, and Shahdara into Centres of Excellence. Furthermore, the Higher Education Department will soon roll out the Delhi Skill Mission to link vocational training directly with permanent, secured job placement.
Key technical and higher education highlights unveiled today include:
- ₹700 Crore Educational Projects: Simultaneous dedications and foundation ceremonies across Delhi, including a new polytechnic building, advanced manufacturing facilities, faculty offices, and a girls’ hostel at NSUT.
- ₹400 Crore Startup Policy: Aimed at hand-holding 10,000 startups and generating 400,000 new jobs for Delhi’s youth. The policy roadmap was finalised following high-level strategy sessions with leading industrial founders on September 6.
- Vidya Vahini Yojana: Over 25,000 free bicycles have already been distributed to female students to eliminate distance barriers and empower young girls across the capital.
Closing his address, Shri Sood reiterated that the dedicated facilities represent a long-term commitment guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to ensure that top-tier digital infrastructure reaches every child, from Grade 1 to premier hig
