New Delhi: Delhi Education Minister Shri Ashish Sood has emphasized that the Delhi government’s primary focus is to build unshakeable self-confidence in students rather than just focusing on report card marks, ensuring that every child in government schools gets access to world-class digital education. Speaking at a special event held at a government girls' school in the Janakpuri constituency, Shri Sood distributed 432 bicycles to Class 9 girl students. Under the Vidya Vahini Yojana, which was launched on July 31, 2026, around 26,000 bicycles have been distributed across Delhi so far.

During the event, the Minister also inspected newly upgraded educational facilities, including smart classrooms, digital libraries, and language labs. Highlighting the true vision of modern education, Shri Sood urged parents to encourage their children to be independent, confident, and practical in their learning journey. "When a candidate applies for a job, recruiters often set the mark sheet aside first. What truly opens doors for you is how confidently you speak and how well you understand your subject. This bicycle is not just a gift—it is a tool to boost your self-confidence and independence," said Education Minister Shri Ashish Sood.

The Education Minister shared that government schools have made a historic transition—moving from the era of sitting on jute mats (taat) and writing on wooden slates (takhti) to learning on high-tech smart boards and Chromebooks.

Key infrastructure developments highlighted by the Minister include:

  • 255 Smart Classrooms, 2 Digital Libraries, 4 ICT Labs, and 5 Language Labs established across the Janakpuri constituency.
  • 9,000 Smart Boards and 20,000 Computers installed across Delhi government schools this year, with plans to add an equal number in the coming financial year.
  • Multilingual Learning: Students are now learning international and regional languages, including French, German, Spanish, Sanskrit, and Kannada.

Shri Sood reminded the students that they are the architects of the nation's future and urged them to make full use of experiential learning through NEP-aligned digital smart boards and career counseling centers.

"You are in the 9th grade today. By 2047, when India becomes a fully developed nation, you will be at the peak of your careers. Viksit Bharat is sitting right here inside this hall. Use these smart boards, explore global books on Chromebooks, and push your pedals forward to build a Developed India," the Minister added.
